Virtuan chaos, commotion, unrest, whatever you want to call it. Bonanza – Chief Editor of this newspaper – called it ‘hectic’. No one expected all of this in the calm, neutral country in the south of the Federation. It was always so quiet there and if something happened, it usually had a good reason.
What about Virtuan politics? Don’t make me laugh. 20 Trading periods ago they would barely even call it politics, just four consuls looking for power, if there were even enough candidates for that. Since then however the lawbook has been boosted and some change has been noticed. The Board of Consuls has been becoming more and more active, although not all of them are as active as another.
It just became too quiet. While so much was on the line, especially with the opportunities that Ibisha brings. Then it really became too quiet, or so the revolutionaries say.
I hope that you as a reader will find clarity from the below articles, and if not, you can treat me to a Virtuale (beer) for a conversation, and I will explain it all more clearly. Take some money, because the more Virtuales the better.
By now the Board of Consuls has fallen, with four new consuls being elected, showing that the revolutionaries won. Viva la Revolucion, Lion_Queen the new Che Guevara. Cheers!
Disaster in Virtua?

The Mister was the official Chairman of the Board of Consuls. He resigned after the ‘revolutionists’ asked the consuls to quit.
The Mister was the Chairman of the Board of Consuls and stepped down earlier this week after the ‘revolutionaries’ asked for his resignation.
The past trading period some questions arised about the piece of land inbetween the countries of the Federation. “Can I buy it?” was asked a lot, but no information came from the Federals. Still, in the 55th trading period it seemed clear that the Federals were ready to give clarity on Ibisha. Virtua needed expansion, something now being realized with the help of Franklin Ibisha. This expansion is not that simple though. A lot of choices are being given to the Virtuan government, investments need to be made in resources, and Franklin Ibisha himself wants to get something for giving up his island. So while it seems simple: sell the resouces and think of a plan and Ibisha is ours.
The prices of the resources were high at the beginning, which quickly made it that the minimum resources were gathered. A good balance in resources is important as well however. After a quick calculaton by the Federal Manager a lot became clear. Due to financial aid from a few devoted Virtuans there is now a good balance for Ibisha. This balance is also good to maintain, due to a price drop in resources to under the cost price.
The setup of Ibisha, named by Franklin Ibisha, gives many opportunities. Not only the political system, but also a trading plan is needed. Quite quickly in the trading period a plan was forged by a group of high placed Virtuan citizens. A colonial board would come, leading Ibisha to growth. Franklin Ibisha is not too enthousiastic about this though. A lot of politicians that do nothing. What about Ibisha a regular city then. A lot simpler, but not everyone is convinced. Next to the political system some choices need to be made about trade as well. Legal trade in guns, gunpowder and bombs? Federal harbor? Tax free island? Still a complete trading plan is not there yet.
After about a week the complaints rained on the Board of Consuls. There is still no offer towards Franklin Ibisha, and there is quite a bit of inactivity. The same afternoon the support from the people fell away. Three Virtuan mayors and a few citizens no longer saw the Board of Consuls as their government. Without the support of the people it is hard to run a government, but also democracy has been removed. This is why I quit. The still sitting Consuls now are having a hard time. Various hospitalizations occured and people are worried and angry. There is some fighting back seen from the consuls, but the are losing it to the revolutionaries that have been banned from the public meeting rooms. Texts have also been seen on the Live Newsfeed that show the standpoint of all of the Consuls, although no news has come in over the posters of these messages. Between the bullets came a strong piece of advice from the Board of Consuls: reelection for the entire Board of Consuls, and luckily I can sit back and watch it happen now.
Commiekiller3 interview

I sit down in a soberly dressed local Virtuan bar, the people around me are discussing the recent Virtuan Commotion. A true ‘revolution’ do most people call it in here, but a small number in the bar prefer the term ‘terrorists’. From time to time a drunk rag walks in and chants ‘Viva la Revolucion’ before he falls knock-out on the ground. I can see that a majority of the citizens in this bar are in favour of Lion_Queen, but there’s nobody fighting in here. That’s probably why commiekiller3 chose this bar to drink a good old Virtuale.
Welcome commiekiller3, I’d like to thank you to answer on these questions regarding the recent actions and political disruption in Virtua.

Could you explain what your role was in the Virtuan Commotion?
Well my role was to help antagonize the situation. I did very little actual damage. My duty is to the people of Cashington, however and when the Mayor decided enough was enough so did I.
Could you explain what in your view went wrong in the Board of Consuls?
The most important part of any democratic government is the people. The BoC in dealing with Franklin (Franklin Ibisha) and his island have the responsibility to represent those who elected them. At some point they decided it was not needed. Also the bankruptcy of Andoversr2, inactivity of Gladicus and Total Warrior helped stir the emotions of already frustrated Merchants with too much money and time on their hands.
What went wrong in the Negotiation with Franklin?
Well at this point hard to tell. The people at least a few of them wanted a council to be placed in direct control of the Island and give it colony status. The Mister and Franklin wanted to place only normal city status on it. Under Virtuan Law cities may not trade in Gun Powder, Explosives and Guns which was a idea some people didn’t want to see in place. It took to much time.
And when exactly did the people chose to take action? At what point?
Well, It all started with the criticism of Lion_Queen. I do agree that it is a bit inappropriate but that was the spark. It was expedited by Riemer_1990 directing his blame for the slow pace of the BoC’s operation at The Mister. When The Mister stepped down all heck broke lose.
What did the BoC do after The Mister (chairman of BoC) quit?
The BoC surprisingly continued to function with only 2 members. They worked on legislation that they could not pass (not the brightest bunch) and they tried to survive. After Mars Attack! became consul they jumped on the opportunity and passed 3 laws. The only reason I did not kill Mars was because I did not have a bomb other wise they would have been stalled. As a former National Officer I do look the idea they doubled pay for employees of National Government. treason law not so much.
What do you think that’s going to happen now?
Well there will be a new BoC. It will try it’s darnest to get something accomplished. While Lion Queen advocates for new government I do not see that happening. The new BoC members (hopefully myself included) will work on legislation that will ensure Digitallia does not acquire the Island and it goes to Virtua. Of course this maybe hard if I win because Franklin sees my methods as Militant not necessarily appropriate for negotiations.
What do you think will happen if the current Board of Consuls win the re-elections?
There will be an all out Civil War. There is no doubt about that. The wealthiest of Virtuan merchants would fund assassinations and bombings. I think it is in the best interest of our nation for the current BoC to withdraw from the race and allow the other to fight over the seats. Some of the candidate have the “War Chest” if you may to pay for a revolution , and I believe that neither Drosshk nor Mars Attack! have been that active in trading to allocate the funds needed. Especially when you take into account the fees you must pay when going to jail.

Elections in Virtua

Viraxje was one of those ‘revolutionists’, together with Lion_Queen he took care of the ‘revolution’.
After the new elections had been announced by the Council of Veterans, the experienced Virtuans started putting themselves up for elections quickly, trying to avoid the same thing happening as with the past elections. Ravox, Annoniem 2, Tuned, and Markallen3 were some of them. A suprise is though that only Tuned and Ravox have become new consuls, completing the Board with Commiekiller3 and Fajas. Fajas is rumoured to be Viraxje and Commiekiller3 is rumoured to have been sitting in the previous BoC under a different name. Let’s hope that this Board of Consuls is atleadt more active than the past and that they can clinch Ibisha for Virtua!

I. An outsiders view on Virtua
So here I am, right off the boat. I felt like it must have felt for the Irish when they arrived in The United States. I was hoping my dream was finally coming true. Living in a country with opportunity, where everyone plays their role in a perfectly happy community.
This dream soon faded away. Everywhere around me I saw politicians fighting, revolutionaries revolting. Even the mayors of the major cities played a part in this unstable meltingpot of people from all over the world. For a second I thought I took the wrong boat and landed in Digitalia. But even there I would be better off then in this forsaken piece of
no-man land. Something has to be done.
Walking around in Centropolis wasn’t much of a pleasure either. Busy business men everywhere hardly willing to take time for a little chat because thousands of I-Shell are on the line. They didn’t care what was happening in the Counsellors offices or in the mayor’s Town hall. These things seemed to have little influence on business to my surprise. So the first question that arose, Why do we really need a government?
Thus far my introduction to Virtua. Next week I will release a full article dedicated to the above question and more. I will try to make now days politics clear to every citizen and why it is important to have a government along with new perspectives on this subject.

Tripolire off the map?

For periods now Tripolire has been going downhill. Some rounds ago there were a few active traders, but now it has become less and less.
This trading period a new low has been reached; not a single active trader. For the whole first week there was a lack of basic trading goods like iron and bricks. This sparked the discussion, which was also discussed in previous trading periods, if Tripolire should stay in the Federation. People who want it to stay highlight its rich history and the ground rich in resources, people who want it to go highlight its horrible and growing inactivity. Even Kleinez, a long time ago one of the founders of the city of Tripolire, thinks that it would better to have the city disappear. There is however a bit of hope. Two people recovering from injuries in The Netherlands, Beagollum and Azelunit will do everything to save the city. Azelunit even called a local moving company to move his trading activities to the city when he heard it might disappear. In his trail follow a few other traders. So Tripolire has seen more activity than in the past trading periods just in the past few days. This however does not end the discussion yet, and we will keep you up to date.
Schorem verdrinkt Bahthoevedorp

Het zat er aan te komen. De voortekenen waren erg duidelijk. Een tijdje geleden merkten de inwoners van Bahthoevedorp een klein eilandje in de buurt van hun kust. Iedereen was erg verheugd op deze nieuwigheid en men kwam van heinde en ver om het wonder te bekijken. Verschillende personen dokterden heuse plannen uit om het eiland voor eigen gebruik aan te wenden. Zo was er iemand die bereid was om het eiland te kopen, de stad Bahthoevedorp was bereid om het op te kopen en zo het grondgebied uit te breiden. Spijtig genoeg wezen internationale experts erop dat het eiland onbewoonbaar en onbegaanbaar was, gezien de steile hellingen en dichte begroeiing.
Hoe verheugd iedereen toen was, zo geschrokken waren de meesten bij hun aankomst in de Federatie eerder deze week. Vanuit de boot die over de Valuta voer, klonken de eerste kreten. Iemand mompelde iets over een enorm monster dat lag te slapen op de splitsing tussen de drie landen. Een rijker persoon (die werd afgezet met zijn bedrijfshelikopter) rapporteerde een enorme banaan in de Valuta te hebben gezien.
Na aankomst op het vaste land verspreide de waarheid zich echter bijzonder snel. Een zeker Franklin Ibisha had het eiland reeds verkend en ontdekte een ideale plaats voor een nieuwe kolonie. Virtua viel bij de gelukkigen. Gezien de nationaliteit van Ibisha bood hij Virtua het stuk land aan, met de nodige voorwaarden.
Maar daar eindigt ons verhaal nog niet. Geografische experts van de Overheid ontdekten een gruwelijk gevolg van het ontstaan van het nieuwe eiland. Door het verschuiven van aardplaten is de stroming van de Valuta licht gewijzigd. Het gevolg is dat Bahthoevedorp, dat zich op de splitsing bevindt, steeds verder ingesloten wordt door water. Volgens de experts zal de stad dit jaar nog volledig van de kaart verdwijnen.
Om deze gruwel tegen te gaan hebben de experts een ultiem plan voorgesteld. Er dient een dijk gebouwd te worden die 500.000 kilo klei en 1.000 diamanten bevat. De Federals hebben reeds hun medeleven betuigd met de inwoners en laten weten alles in het werk te stellen om de stad toch nog te redden. Ze sturen gezanten op pad om de klei en diamanten in Digitaliaanse en Cyberische winkels op te kopen.
Ook het Cyberische Parlement bleef niet bij de pakken zitten en Minister van Financiën marcelbuter maakte een ruim budget vrij om klei en diamanten aan te kopen. Er gaan echter verschillende stemmen op om in de plaats van een dijk, een kanaal te graven richting het waterloze Kronenburg, dat tijdens de zomer steeds met watertekorten kampt. Cyberische experts hebben al laten weten dat het mogelijk is, maar het is nog wachten op een reactie van de Overheidsexperts die de leiding hebben genomen in dit project.
Het is echter treurig om vast te stellen dat een groepje afvallige, sluwe en trouwloze onderkruipsels zich tegen de plannen verzet en openlijk verkondigt om Bahthoevedorp aan het water over te leveren. Vooral Bloemenverkoper en Vinny zijn hevige voorstanders van dit laatste concept omdat ze menen dat de economie ten onder zal gaan. De bloedzuigers durven zich nog volksvertegenwoordigers te noemen. Het schorem dat zich achter deze twee verachtelijke vaandeldragers schaart meent te kunnen aantonen dat Bahthoevedorp bestaat uit een stel subjes dat alleen maar geld opslorpt dat in hun eigen stadje had kunnen gepompt worden. Egoïstisch als ze zijn trekken ze zich niets aan van de rijke geschiedenis die Bahthoevedorp heeft gekend en de gekende cyclus van ‘Up-and-downs’.
Het laatste woord is hierover ongetwijfeld nog niet gezegd. De missie is moeilijk, maar haalbaar. Ik roep dan ook iedereen op om Bahthoevedorp te helpen (en zelf ook nog wat bij te verdienen) en dus massaal klei voor een bedrag van 0.5 ISH in je winkel te koop te zetten. Laat zien dat je deze actie steunt en zet die achterbakse volksparlementariërs in hun bloot gat. Pek en veren komen later.

Bahthoevedorp ten onder?

Het kan raar lopen, aan de ene kant van de valuta wordt er een nieuw eiland ontdekt, aan de andere kant kampt Bahthoevedorp met overstromingsgevaar. Komt het door het steeds kleiner wordende inwonerstal van Bahthoevedorp dat de inwoners de dijken niet meer goed in de gaten hielden of zit misschien de overheid hier achter?
Al een aantal handelsperiodes loopt het niet echt lekker met de goudstad van Cyberië. Vroeger waren er een stel trouwe handelaren die er elke periode voor zorgden dat de handel toch nog goed liep in Bahthoevedorp, denk aan Fchans2 die vaak de taak als mayor op zich nam. De laatste handelsperiodes was het dan vooral SCOI mr fixit die de kaart leeg trok of MV’s van buitenlandse handelaren.
De overheid wilt graag meer handel in alle steden zien en wat je wel duidelijk zag bij het wegvallen van Yenville destijds was dat Roebelarendsveen toch een stuk actiever werd. Mocht Bahthoevedorp overstromen zou ik de inwoners naar Zwollar verplaatsen, zodat alle steden dan ongeveer gelijk verdeeld zijn. Maar het is nog wat afwachten. Tot nu toe is er 62476 klei gekocht door de gezanten van de overheid, net iets meer dan 1/10 wat totaal nodig is.

Juist, jullie lezen het goed: De redactie van de TMC is erin getrapt. Ik ga voortaan een leuke roddel in de TMC zetten. Het heeft wel heel wat voeten in de aarde gehad. Na een hele tijd zeuren wilden ze er nog niet aan. Ik had beloofd om dit niet te vertellen (in ruil voor een vaste plek in de krant), maar aangezien ik deze vaste plek nu gekregen heb wil ik het wel met jullie delen:
Mijn oma en ik gaan elke week samen dingen doen. Meestal doen we samen de boodschappen, maar nu is ze laatst bij een naaiclubje gegaan (zo’n clubje waar men zelf kleding maakt) en vroeg ze of ik een keertje mee wilde gaan. Met mijn oma wilde ik hier natuurlijk wel mee heen, gezellig. Eenmaal in de club aangekomen kwam ik een aantal bekende gezichten tegen: Troel, ik_zwollartje, maar ook bonanza en Tuned. De laatste twee waren al druk bezig met het passen van hun creaties. Gelukkig had ik mijn fototoestel bij en ik zou graag de foto met jullie willen delen. Hopelijk snappen jullie nu waarom ik jullie elke week mag vervelen met een mooi stukje.
Interview Volder

Het was even vreemd opkijken bij de aankomst in de Federatie. Onder de horde traditionele handelaars en politici bevonden zich enkele vreemde vogels die de rush van op een afstand bekeken. Eén van hen was Volder, een persoon uit een ver verleden. “Van waar zou ik hem moeten kennen?” hoor ik je nu al denken. Wel, ik heb hem exact die vraag gesteld.
“Toen ik net in Cyberië kwam wonen ben ik meteen de politiek in gegaan. Ik ben begonnen bij LEF en kwam meteen in het Parlement en ben daarna doorgegroeid tot lijsttrekker. In het Parlement kreeg ik ook al snel een ministerpost. Ik ben twee keer Minister van Sociale Zaken geweest en een keer Minister van Financiën. In de tussentijd had ik mijn eigen partij opgericht, de LNP.
Deze partij was 5 jaar geleden de meest succesvolle partij van het jaar. Dit staat in de krant van dat jaar en dat laten de statistieken ook zien. Wij hadden de meeste zetels en stemmen in het totale jaar.
Op het moment dat ik een nieuwe lijsttrekker naar voren schoof, werd de partij de grootste van Cyberië en leverden wij de president. Helaas was ik dit niet zelf, ik werd mayor van Bahthoevedorp. Wel ben ik nog een keer Vice-President geweest.”
De vraag dringt zich natuurlijk op wat er in al die tijd zoal veranderd is. Ik speelde een beetje advocaat van de duivel en stelde dat de huidige Parlementsleden een veel lagere status hebben dan in zijn tijd en dat bij wijze van spreken nu iedereen zomaar lid kan worden.
“Vroeger kon in principe ook iedereen in het Parlement komen. Als je in een politieke partij zit en je hebt genoeg aanhang en stemmen, dan zit je in het parlement. Maar dat is democratie en die hebben we nog steeds in Cyberië, gelukkig maar. Ik zou niet weten wat voor eisen we aan mensen moeten stellen om in het Parlement te mogen zitten behalve voldoende stemmen.
Als iemand niet geschikt is valt hij of zij vanzelf wel door de mand en wordt het afgestraft… Maar ik denk dat onze kiezers wel voldoende verstand hebben om een goede keuze te maken.
Wat betreft algemene veranderingen zijn er twee grote opvallende dingen. Er is een nieuw land met Engelstalige mensen. Verder betreur ik het dat Yenville niet meer bestaat en dat Bahthoevedorp hetzelfde boven het hoofd hangt. Hier moet echt iets aan gedaan worden. Meer grote veranderingen heb ik zo niet opgemerkt, maar daarvoor ben ik ook te kort terug in Cyberië. Ik heb daarom ook een Personal Assistent aangenomen om mij volledig bij te praten en op de hoogte te houden van gebeurtenissen. Isabella is voor de meesten onbekend, maar zij heeft het vermogen om mij goed te informeren.”
De vraag waarom hij teruggekomen was naar de Federatie was eigenlijk een beetje overbodig. Een betere vraag is of hij denkt lang te zullen blijven en wat hij dan gaat doen. Als trouwe Bahthoevedorpenaar lag ook hier het antwoord voor de hand.
“Ik kan de mensen niet begrijpen die Bahthoevedorp zomaar willen laten verdwijnen. Bahthoevedorp mag dan misschien veranderd zijn de laatste jaren en niet in trek zijn voor de handel, opgeven mag je het nooit. Ik ben zelf een echte Bahthoevedorpenaar, dus ik wil er alles aan doen om Bahthoevedorp te behouden voor Cyberië. De stad is al heel oud en hoort bij het land. Dat de stad wordt bedreigd door water moet ons niet tegenhouden. Daarom ben ik ook meteen met een plan gekomen om iets tegen dat water te doen.
Ik heb mijn idee medegedeeld in het gemeentehuis van Bahthoevedorp en hoop dat het voldoende medestanders heeft. Als er iemand is met een beter idee om Bahthoevedorp te kunnen redden dan juich ik dat ook toe, maar vooralsnog lijkt mij dit de beste oplossing. Een dijk bouwen is prima, maar het water kan dan alleen maar meer en meer stijgen. Een kanaal is dan een prima oplossing om de druk van de dijk af te nemen. De functie van het kanaal kan later nog veel meer invulling krijgen. Denk aan een doorvoer voor schepen en dus een betere handel (Kijk naar Nederland als doorvoerland).”
Zijn politieke ambities stopt hij niet onder stoelen of banken. Met zijn nieuwe partij (OAC) hoopt hij zijn plannen te kunnen verwezenlijken.
“Bahthoevedorp is nu een situatie om te laten zien dat ik serieus ben en dat ik dingen kan gaan veranderen (al kan ik er nu nog niet heel veel invloed op uitoefenen). Als dit slaagt, dan kan ik daarna op lange termijn het hele land proberen te laten herleven.
Vanuit het Parlement kan ik meer bereiken. Dat is dan ook mijn hoofddoel, maar dan moeten mensen mij daar dus ook willen zien. Als daar niet genoeg draagvlak voor is, dan zal ik proberen mayor te worden van Bahthoevedorp. Maar het Parlement is mijn hoofddoel en dan zou het helemaal geweldig zijn om Minister van Financiën te worden of President.”
Ik wilde graag nog enkele vragen stellen, maar voordat ik iets kon zeggen excuseerde hij zich. Hij had nog een afspraak en had spijtig genoeg geen tijd meer voor het interview. In zijn spiksplinternieuwe BMC vertrekt hij met gierende banden richting Eurodam. Ik sta wat verdwaasd te kijken, schudt mijn hoofd en vertrek in mijn derdehandse Miniconomini richting redactielokalen. Ik moet dringend opslag vragen.
Handelen in Gold Coast

Het werd de eerste volle handelsperiode dat ik zou handelen in Gold Coast. Op de boot kwam ik een paar inwoners tegen en sprak ze aan. Ik wist totaal nog niet wat ik wou doen, maar besloot maar ijzer en hout te doen. Zo besloten, zo gedaan.
Om klokslag 12.00 uur kwam de boot aan. Ik zocht een mooie plek om mijn winkeltje te bouwen, het zou een klein winkeltje zijn van 2 vierkante meter oftewel 2 squsts. Ik handelde zelf hout dus had ik geen probleem om aan hout te komen, maar glas was ver te zoeken. Omdat ik de enige houthandelaar was kon ik de prijs lekker hoog houden. Dat was ook zo met ijzer.
Op de tweede dag had ik al een ruime omzet van 10.000 I-shells, maar mijn nettowaarde bleef steken. Ik probeerde de hele dag een winkel te krijgen in Centropolis, maar dat lukte niet. Gelukkig kreeg ik wel een winkel in Cashington. Ik hoopte dat mijn omzet nog verder zou stijgen, maar helaas, veel verkocht ik er niet.
Dag drie alweer, mijn omzet was maar 15.000 I-Shells. Niet zo goed dus, mijn hele dag stond in het teken van een winkel te krijgen in Centropolis, maar helaas.
Dag vier, 20.000 I-Shells. Eindelijk kreeg ik dan mijn winkel in Centropolis, mijn omzet steeg niet zoveel, ik had meer verwacht.
Dag vijf,vandaag wou ik 25.000 I-Shells omzet krijgen, en heel veel winst, maar het lukt niet echt. Op dit moment ben ik aan het sparen om een MV op te starten.

Bahthoevedorp drowning

We had been afraid of it for quite a while, the signs were apparant. A while ago the citizens of Bahthoevedorp noticed a small island in the vicinity of their coast. Everyone was pleased and curious and came from far to see it. Various people doctored out plans to use the island themselves. A few people offered to buy it, including the city of Bahthoevedorp. Experts said that the island was uninhabitable though due to the jagged cliffs and many trees.
How happy everyone was then when they arrived in the Federation earlier this week. From the boat that sailed over the Valuta sounded the first comments. Someone said something about a giant monster sleeping in between the three countries. A richer person (dropped off by helicopter) reported a giant banana in the Valuta.
When we had arrived the truth quickly spread. Franklin Ibisha had navigated the island an found it an ideal place for a new colony. Virtua was the lucky one, and he offered it to the nation with a few requirements.
Our story however does not end there. Geographic experts from the Federal Government found horrible results from the rising of the new island. The shifts in the surface had created a change in the current of the Valuta, now threathning Bahthoevedorp and it’s inhabitants. The same experts predict that Bahthoevedorp will sink into the river if nothing happens.
To prevent this from happening a plan was thought of. A dike needs to be built amounting 500,000 clay and 1,000 diamonds. The Federals have shown their sympathy with the inhabitants and have offered logistical and financial help. They have sent buyers to go through Digitalia and Cyberia buying all clay and diamonds on offer for a certain price.
The Cyberian Parliament has also tried their bit and Minister of Finance marcelbuter reserved money for the buying of clay and diamonds. Some people are however now proposing digging a canal to Kronenburg, that has been troubled by drought this summer. Cyberian experts have said that it’s possible, but a reaction is yet to be seen by representatives of the Federals.
It is said to say though that a group of cunning people have moved to break up these plans and let the city sink. Especially Bloemenverkoper and vinny are promoting these ideas, saying that the economy will take a dive. These leeches dare to call themselves politicians. They and their followers say that the city is nothing else than alter-egos and takes money that could be invested in other cities. Selfish as they are they do not care about the rich history of Bahthoevedorp and the cycle of ups and downs.
The last word has not been said about this, and while the mission is a challenge, it is possible. I call to everyone to help Bahthoevedorp (and make some money in the process) and sell clay massively for 0.50 per in your shops. Show that you support the idea and let those leeches stay out in the cold. We will come back to them later, once we’re done.

It was strange when I arrived in the Federation. Among the horde of traditional traders and politicians were a few strange faces that looked at the rush from a distance. One of them was volder, an individual from the past. “What do I know him from?” I hear you thinking. Well, I asked him that question.
“When I had just arrived in Cyberia I went into politics right away. I started out in the political party LEF and was able to become a member of parliament right away, and eventually worked my way up to the primary candidate of the party. In the parliament I quickly got a Minister position as well. I have been Minister of Social Affairs twice and once Minister of Finance. In the meantime I had started my own party, the LNP.
This party was the most succesful party of the year. This is mentioned in this paper back then and the statistics also show it. We had the most seats in parliament and the most votes over the whole year as well.
At the moment that I put forward a new chairman of the party, the party won the elections and we were able to appoint a President. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get this position due to my position as Mayor of Bahthoevedorp. I did become Vice-President once though.”
The question arises what has chanced since then. I played the devil’s advocate a bit and said that the current Members of Parliament have a much lower status than in those days, and that almost anyone can become a politician now.
“It was the same in the past really. If you had enough following, then you were in the parliament. That’s democracy and we still have that in Cyberia, luckily. I wouldn’t know which requirements you would put on people on becoming an MP besides enough votes. If someone isn’t fit for the job, they will fail quick enough. I think our voters are smart enough to make the right choices.
When looking at general changes there are two big changed. Virtua is a big change, and I feel sad that the city of Yenville is gone, and the same is looking to happen with Bahthoevedorp.
Something really needs to be done about this. Other big changes have not really become apparent to me, but I haven’t been back that long. I hired a personal assistant for that reason to make sure that I get back up to speed quickly. Isabella is probably unknown to most people, but she has the ability to inform me accurately.”
The question why he had returned to the Federation was redundant. A better question to ask was if he thinks he will stay for a long time and what he will be doing here. As a devoted Bahthoevedorp citizen the answer was quick to be found
“I can’t understand people that will just let Bahthoevedorp go. It might have changed in the past years, but you can never give it up. I feel at home here and will do anything to keep the city alive. It’s an old city and has been part of the Federation for a long time. The city is now threathened by water, and I hope to come up with a plan to do something about it.
I shared my idea in the Town Hall of Bahthoevedorp and I hope enough people agree with me. If someone has a better idea than I will look that too, but I think for now that this is the best solution. Building a dike is fine, but the water can get higher later. A channel would be the best solution to take the pressure off the dikes. The function of the channel can be filled in later. Think of a better trade route for ships for example.”
His political ambitions are not hidden. With his new party (OAC) he hopes to get things done.
“Bahthoevedorp is now a situation which shows that I am very serious about things like this and that I hope to change things (although I can only influence a bit at the moment). If it succeeds then I will try to revive the country bit by bit on the long term.
From within the Parliament I can do more. My goal then will be that people want to see me there. If people don’t think so, then I will try to become Mayor of Bahthoevedorp. Parliament however is my first priority and it would be an honor to become Minister of Finance or President.”
I would have liked to ask more questions, but before I could say anything he apologized and said he had to leave for an appointment. In his brand new BMC he left towards Eurodam. A little confused I watched him go down the street and when he was gone I got into my second hand Miniconomini and drove to the office. That reminds me, I have to ask for a raise”
Trading in Gold Coast

It was the first full trading period that I would trade in Gold Coast. On the boat I met a few of the inhabitants and talked with them. I had no idea what I wanted to do, so I decided to do wood and iron. So said so done.
At noon the boat arrived. I found a nice spot on which to build my shop, one of 2 square meters or squst as they call it here. I was trading wood, so I had no problem getting wood, but glass was hard to find. Being the only wood trader I could keep the price nice and high. Same with iron.
On the second day I had a turnover of around 10,000 I-Shells, but my networth stayed the same. I tried to get a shop in Centropolis all day, but without success. Luckily I got a shop in Cashington though, hoping that my turnover would increase, but this unfortunately was not the case.
On the third day my turnover was 15,000 I-Shells. Not so good, and the whole day I was trying to get a shop in Centropolis, without success.
Day 4, 20,000 I-Shell and I got my shop in Centropolis. My expectations were probably too high though as my turnover didn’t grow too quickly.
Day 5, I wanted 25,000 I-Shells in turnover with a big profit, but had no luck. At this moment I am saving for an MV.
