Virtuaans-Cyberische handelsoorlog breekt uit

”Wegens recente ontwikkelingen zal de staat van paraatheid omhoog gaan.” “De relaties zijn in de verste verte niet goed.” “I personally think Cyberians have no business selling on our soil.” “Supporting, planning, executing or any other form of supporting criminal activities by members of the Council or the Virtuan Government is not considered as a criminal activity.”
Het is maar een kleine bloemlezing van de dreigende taal die zowel in Virtua als Cyberië is terug te vinden. En het begon nochtans zo veelbelovend. Hieronder volgt een chronologisch overzicht van de gebeurtenissen die uiteindelijk zouden leiden tot het diepste dieptepunt in Cyberisch-Virtuaanse relaties sinds het uitbreken van de oorlog naar aanleiding van een denigrerende uitspraak van mariadoc, die Virtua ‘Cyberië 2’ en haar politiek ‘onvolwassen’ had genoemd. Dit artikel bevat opmerkelijke publieke uitspraken, maar ook informatie uit interviews en exclusieve gesprekken tussen de leiders van de Federatie achter gesloten deuren!
Cyberische bemiddelaar, Joep Eerlijk, belast met het onderhouden van de internationale contacten, stelde Virtuaans President Tuned voor om de handel tussen beide landen te bevorderen. Dit zou gebeuren door beide landen een groot schip te laten aankopen dat zou ingezet worden om te varen tussen beide kusten. Op die manier was er op alle momenten vervoer tussen Cyberië en Virtua. Tuned leek laaiend enthousiast over deze deal en kocht nog voor de Cyberische goedkeuring een schip aan, hoewel er nog geen afspraken waren gemaakt over prijzen.
Van zijn kant kan ook Joep Eerlijk niets verweten worden. Hij stelde het plan voor aan het Cyberische Parlement. Volgens hem had het drie grote voordelen. Ten eerste zou het de banden met Virtua wat aanhalen. Ten tweede is het een ideale stimulans voor de economie. De producten voor de Cyberische boot zouden namelijk in Cyberië gekocht worden. Ten derde zou één derde van de investering ogenblikkelijk terugverdiend worden door belastingen en productie-inkomsten.
Minister van Financiën The Eye vertaalde het plan onmiddellijk in economische termen en stelde een budget van 10.000 ISH voor. Vanaf daar liep het echter mis. De Parlementsleden leken in tegenstelling tot Joep Eerlijk niet allemaal even overtuigd van het nut van de investering. “Het zijn zinloze tripjes. Laat het geld maar lekker in onze zakken zitten.”, aldus Pedro Alvarez. Even later kwam hij dan wel weer met een positieve noot dat hij het plan zou goedkeuren indien er tegen kostprijs gevaren zou worden, omdat dit de handel tussen beide landen zou versterken.
Om die dubbelzinnige houding toch wat weg te werken, besloot ik een klein gesprekje aan te knopen met ster-Parlementslid Pedro Alvarez in de wandelgangen van het Parlement.
“Persoonlijk zie ik de toegevoegde waarde er helemaal niet van in. Als je nu naar de havens in Cyberië gaat kijken, zie je dat er twee boten richting Virtua staan. Gisteren telde ik er zelfs vijf, er is dus al sprake van een constante verbinding tussen Cyberië en Virtua. Het voornaamste argument is dus werkelijk belachelijk.”
“Dan het tweede punt, het zou een stimulering zijn voor de Cyberische economie. Schijt aan die zin, het zou een stimulering zijn voor de Eurodamse economie, daar het globaal prijsniveau daar veel lager ligt tegenover de andere steden. Dit werd zelfs bevestigd door de voorstanders van dit project. Ik heb dan ook liever dat die 10.000 ISH over de steden wordt verdeeld, dan dat we de rijkste stad Eurodam nog eens een toerist ter waarde van 10.000 ISH toekennen.”
Ook Minister van Financiën The Eye moet het ontgelden. “Dat het begrote bedrag 10.000 ISH is, is gewoon totaal uit de lucht gegrepen, het is niet gefundeerd. Men heeft zelfs de moeite niet gedaan om een berekening te maken. Mijn eigen berekening komt neer op zo’n 6.440 ISH. Wat ging men met de rest van het geld doen? Cadeau geven door producten duurdere te kopen? Neenee, daar stem ik niet mee in.”
“En dan nog een probleem, er was niet eens uitgewerkt bij wie men de goederen ging afnemen. Bij de vriendjes en de vriendinnetjes? Ging men het verdelen onder kleine handelaars? Niemand die het weet. Conclusie: Er was geen nuttig aspect aan verbonden en het economisch aspect was niet uitgewerkt, waardoor ik heb besloten om niet voor het project te stemmen.”
Ook Parlementslid Antonio Alvarez was minder te spreken over het idee. Hij nam het woord ‘dommigheid’ net niet in de mond. “Hebben we ook meegenomen dat daar eventuele producten goedkoper geproduceerd worden en we hierdoor uit de markt geconcurreerd worden?” Parlementslid doodvogeltje zag hier net een voordeel in. “We moeten in deze situatie kiezen tussen een glas dat halfvol is, ofwel een glas dat halfleeg is. De afzetmarkt voor Cyberië kunnen we zo vergroten en natuurlijk gaan we ook concurrentie krijgen uit Virtua. Het is aan onze handelaars om zich te bewijzen.”
Ook IkbenBen19 zag negatieve gevolgen. Hij had het over de komst van gewapende Digitalianen die door de bouw van de havens nu veel sneller op Cyberisch grondgebied hun slag konden slaan. Antonio Alvarez voegde daar nog aan toe: “De relatie met Virtua hoeft niet verbeterd te worden. We hebben nog nooit oorlog gehad en die zit er ook niet aan te komen. Dus betere banden krijgen met Virtua lijkt me dikke onzin. De banden zijn op dit moment goed.”
Zijn woorden waren echter nog niet koud of Virtuan Ambassador, de niet-officiële vertegenwoordiger van Virtua in Cyberië, liet weten dat er weldegelijk een oorlog is geweest (zie de mariadoc-oorlog) en wees er fijntjes op dat Virtua toen goed haar mannetje heeft weten te staan. President Tuned was bovendien niet te spreken over het feit dat de discussie in het Parlement zo lang aansleepte. Minister van Financiën The Eye was nergens meer te bekennen en vanuit het Cyberische Presidentiële kabinet van Switzisch, wiens taak het deels is om de buitenlandse zaken op te volgen, bleef het al helemaal stil.
Toch was ik vastbesloten om de mening van de Cyberische President te pakken te krijgen. Er werd hier en daar beweerd dat Switzisch niet het minste idee heeft wat er gebeurt, maar als dat al zo is, laat hij dat in ieder geval niet blijken. “Joep Eerlijk heeft bemiddeld en dat heeft hij prima gedaan. De huidige situatie zegt meer over Virtua dan over hem. Zolang Virtua koppig blijft, zal het niet opgelost worden en ik zie dat al helemaal niet gebeuren met de huidige leiders.”
Gevraagd naar de oorzaak van de crisis, antwoordt Switzisch het volgende: “Het is gewoon Virtuaanse koppigheid. Virtua probeert wanhopig haar handel te beschermen door de grenzen dicht te gooien. Er waren geen duidelijke afspraken men hen gemaakt wat betreft die boten, dus moeten wij ons ook aan niets houden. De particuliere scheepvaart was al vroeg op gang gekomen en er varen genoeg schepen, dus het heeft geen zin om 10.000 ISH te gaan verspillen.”
Opmerkelijk is dat de beslissing om niet langer door te gaan met het programma nooit aan de Virtuaanse regering is meegedeeld. “Voordat ik daar de mogelijkheid toe kreeg, is Tuned in opstand gekomen en toen heb ik maar besloten de contacten volledig te verbreken.”
Ook in Virtua begon het gemor alsmaar luider te klinken. Er werd ontdekt dat Cyberië al voor de tweede handelsperiode op rij gebruik maakt van handelssubsidies om Cyberische handelaars te stimuleren een handel in het buitenland te starten. In het Virtuaanse Achterkamertje ‘Council Room’ noemde Tuned dit een regelrechte aanval op de Virtuaanse economie. “Cyberische handelaars komen doorgaans naar hier met ontzettend lage prijzen zodat Virtuanen minder winst maken. Dit verhoogt hun kans op een hoge notering. Het is een schande dat de Cyberische overheid ons niet op de hoogte heeft gebracht, zeker gezien de hoogte van het bedrag dat kan oplopen tot 2.000 ISH. ” Deze toch wel opmerkelijke uitlatingen werden volmondig beaamd door andere Virtuanen. “Ze zouden dergelijke tactieken niet moeten uitvoeren zonder ons medeweten. We moeten ons isoleren. Als we ons open opstellen, maken ze toch alleen maar misbruik van ons.”, liet Andrakon weten. Ook thehopehitman2 was niet te spreken over het Cyberische gedrag. “Cyberiërs hebben niets te zoeken in Virtua. In het verleden hebben ze de Virtuaanse prijzen vaak genoeg laten crashen.”
Eigenlijk zeggen de Virtuanen en de Cyberiërs dus hetzelfde over elkaar. “Ze komen de markt verpesten, meneer. We moeten hen niet.”
In een gesprek met Virtuaans President Tuned komt die houding sterk naar voren. Er zijn volgens hem drie redenen voor de huidige situatie. De eerste is het mentaliteitsverschil tussen Cyberiërs en Virtuanen. In Virtua moet je minder actief zijn, terwijl Cyberiërs dat van nature uit wel zijn. Dat maakt dat ze met gemak de hele handel kunnen saboteren. Er is met andere woorden een historische argwaan vanuit Virtua tegenover Cyberiërs, omdat de eerste stelling handelsperiode na periode bewezen wordt. Ten tweede is er dat schepenakkoord. Het is duidelijk dat het voor beide landen een goede zaak zou zijn, een win-winsituatie. Maar als je dan ziet dat het in Virtua onmiddellijk werd goedgekeurd terwijl ze in Cyberië nog steeds liggen te zeuren (ook op dit moment, redactie), dan komt dat wel slecht over. Ten derde is er het communicatieprobleem met Cyberië. De Virtuanen werden nooit ingelicht over die winkelsubsidies. Dat wordt gezien als een zeer ernstige vorm van disrespect.
Cyberisch Internationaal Onderhandelaar Joep Eerlijk legt de schuld van de crisis dan weer volledig bij Virtua.
“Virtua ziet het liefst geen Internationale handel en Cyberië is daar net wel groot voorstander van. Virtua zag de stimuleringsmaatregelen voor Cyberische handelaren van Cyberië als bedreiging en heeft daar, onnodig, op een agressieve manier op gereageerd.
We hadden een pauze in de gesprekken afgesproken en daarbij enkele afspraken gemaakt. Deze zijn echter niet nagekomen door Virtua. Daarom stoppen wij nu ook niet veel energie meer in pogingen om dichter bij elkaar te komen, maar laten we het initiatief over aan Virtua. Cyberië heeft altijd gezegd alle opties open te houden, waar Virtua al snel dingen ging eisen, daar is het in mijn ogen verkeerd gegaan.”
Het directe gevolg was dan ook dat Virtua enkele verordeningen heeft uitgesproken die dan weer bij Cyberië in het verkeerde keelgat schoten. De Virtuaanse havenprijzen moesten op 500 ISH staan. Er kwam een verbod op handel op Virtuaans grondgebied voor buitenlanders. Deze regel kon afgezwakt worden mits een speciale licentie van de President, maar het was duidelijk dat deze actie louter bedoeld was om Cyberiërs buiten te houden. Ten derde kwam er misschien wel het meest controversiële besluit. De Virtuaanse President besliste dat het beramen, plannen en steunen van aanslagen door de Virtuaanse regering niet langer een strafbaar feit is. Dit deed de vermoedens stijgen dat Virtua een aanval voorbereidde op Cyberië.
“Vooral de derde verordening verontrust me. Ik heb Virtua altijd als een goede en betrouwbare partner ervaren waarmee we op gelijkwaardig niveau konden praten. De weg die ze nu inslaan is zeker niet positief. Maar de verordeningen zullen mijn inziens geen grote problemen vormen voor ons of onze handelaren. Als Virtua problemen heeft met onze subsidieregeling, dan kunnen ze een normaal gesprek hierover aangaan met ons en kunnen we kijken wat de mogelijkheden zijn.
Maar ons onder druk proberen te zetten op deze manier is niet de juiste.”, aldus Joep Eerlijk.
Bijgevolg lijkt ook Cyberië zich voor te bereiden op een oorlog. Parlementslid Podje in het Parlement: “Ik wil graag opheldering over het gerucht dat wij Digitalianen betalen om een oorlog te beginnen tegen Virtua. Mocht dit waar zijn, dan vind ik dat het hele Parlement ingelicht moet worden. Desnoods moeten we maar in jullie speciale clubje toegelaten worden.” Er wordt beweerd dat President Switzisch al contacten heeft gelegd met hoge Digitaliaanse vertegenwoordigers om zich te verzekeren van Digitaliaanse steun tijdens de oorlog. Hij heeft inmiddels de verhoogde staat van paraatheid afgekondigd, een optie die we al periodeslang niet meer hadden gezien. Ook Parlementsleden roepen op tot actie. Parlementslid IkbenBen19 vraagt om de havenprijzen tot 500 ISH te laten stijgen en Virtuanen een verbod op te leggen om te handelen op Cyberisch grondgebied. Hij stelt ook voor om de beruchte ‘legeroptie’, ingevoerd door Marcello Alvarez, in leven te brengen.
De duidelijke afkeer van het Parlement voor internationale akkoorden wordt vreemd genoeg gesteund door aartsvijand Tuned zelf. “Internationale Akkoorden zijn losse documentjes die geen nut hebben. Ze beïnvloeden het beleid toch niet.” Dat belet hem echter niet om enkele dagen daarvoor trots een nieuw handelsakkoord met Ibisha te presenteren. Het kan dus wél goed gaan.
Een oorlog tussen Virtua en Cyberië lijkt echter onafwendbaar. Beide partijen beginnen voorbereidingen te treffen om elkaar aan te vallen en zich te verdedigen tegen aanslagen. En dat allemaal omwille van dubieuze redenen.
Is het de schuld van Cyberië? Zij hebben immers lang op zich laten wachten met het stemmen van het botenvoorstel. Die stemming is dinsdag (week twee) geëindigd op een gelijkstand, maar door een afwezigheid van de President wordt geen uitsluitsel meer verwacht voor volgende week. Een idee uitvoeren in week drie dat bedoeld was om de handel in de eerste dagen te versterken is misschien een beetje vreemd.
Is het misschien de schuld van Virtua? Zijn zij niet wat te hard van stapel gelopen door meteen al een boot te gaan aankopen zonder dat er goedkeuring was vanuit Cyberië? Zijn ze niet een stap te ver gegaan en hebben zij de huidige wapenwedloop niet uitgelokt door publiekelijk bekend te maken dat ze aan aanvalsplannen werken?
Eén ding lijkt zeker. De standpunten van beide landen lijken te verharden en het is dus hoogst onwaarschijnlijk dat er alsnog een oplossing uit de bus komt. Virtua weigert te praten met Cyberië omdat die laatsten de Virtuanen kapot concurreren. Cyberië weigert dan weer te praten omdat ze vindt dat Virtua op een onnodig agressieve manier de stekker heeft getrokken uit lopende onderhandelingen. De enige die nog min of meer blijft geloven in een gesprek lijkt Joep Eerlijk. Hij beweert officieel geen contacten meer te onderhouden, maar de redactie kwam een afspraak te weten tussen hem en de Virtuaanse President. Deze moet erg woelig verlopen zijn, want even later zagen we een woedende Tuned vertrekken in zijn Limcousine.
Wanneer ik Joep Eerlijk naar buiten zie komen, spreek ik hem aan en vraag ik hoe hij de situatie tegemoet kijkt. Tegen mijn verwachtingen in lijkt hij heel wat somberder gesteld. “De Cyberiërs gaan de subsidies nooit weer intrekken, want dat zou gezichtsverlies zijn.” Dat ook de Virtuanen van geen wijken weten is duidelijk. Het is nog even wachten en dan publiceren we exclusief de aanvalsplannen van beide landen. U dacht dat Wikileaks straf was? Wij zijn nog veel straffer!
Prijs enkeltje Europa stijgt fors

Explosies en geweerschoten weerklinken regelmatig in de rustieke dorpjes van Digitalië. Het land lijkt af te glijden naar een staat van burgeroorlog en anarchie. De vraag naar enkeltjes richting het Europese vasteland is hierdoor fors gestegen. Reisbureaus die zich hebben gespecialiseerd in medische evacuaties vragen dan ook de hoogste prijzen. Op Tweede kerstdag liep de prijs op tot 6399,- ISH per ticket.
Vrijwel alle actieve handelaren zijn inmiddels door één of meerdere kogels getroffen. In El Peso werden officer Glaszetter en mayor Bolle Tripolire veroordeeld tot een enkeltje Nederland. Ook de handelaren copa-copa, djglekke, The King 2 en COE werden failliet geschoten. In Monapoli drongen gewapende personen zelfs tot diep in het Koninklijk Paleis binnen. De paleiswacht vond in de slaapvertrekken van het Paleis uiteindelijk de doorzeefde lichamen van koning Neuroman en senator beagollum.
Een doodsbange woordvoerder van de Digitaliaanse politie bevestigde dat de meeste schoten werden gelost door Chiara Alvarez, sugarfree en Troel. Volgens beursanalisten bezit dit trio waarschijnlijk veel aandelen in reisbureaus. Hun schietgrage gedrag zou mede hierdoor worden verklaard.
Wie? Oh, ikke!

Tresias, dat heb ik veel gehoord afgelopen week. Gek genoeg kon niemand mij antwoord geven op de vraag wie dat is. Velen van jullie gingen snel hun huis in toen ik op de markt deze vraag stelde. Nu zal ik eens gaan vertellen wie die persoon is. Ik heb hem immers ook meegemaakt mogen jullie weten.
Ik ga vertellen wie hij is aan de hand van voorbeelden uit de afgelopen week. Een voorbeeld dat ik maar altijd graag gebruik is ikbenBen19. Tresias is iemand die totaal het tegenovergestelde is van ikbenBen19. Tresias vliegt liever de discussie in en probeert er niet onder uit te komen.
Tresias lijkt in dat opzicht meer op Podje. Maar Podje heeft weer iets wat Tresias niet heeft. Podje kan handelen. En ook niet maar een klein beetje, nee hij is al heel vaak uitgeroepen tot de rijkste burger van de Federatie. Hoe doet hij dat toch? Nu weet iedereen dat hij een geldkluis van de Federale Bank in Bahthoevedorp heeft gevonden, maar dat hij er zoveel geld uit heeft weten te halen is toch wel knap. Immers, volgens de laatste gegevens komt er een flinke economische dip aan de komende tien handelsperiodes. Dus ik ben benieuwd of het speciale opsporingsteam Podje eindelijk zal ontmaskeren.
Tresias lijkt op dat opzicht ook wel op Podje. Ook hij heeft wel eens wat verkeerd gedaan, al was het wel onder een andere naam. Zo zou hij een grote boete voor een handelsgroep in Roebelarendsveen op zijn naam hebben staan. Ook wel een flinke prestatie, maar toch valt dat in het niets bij andere criminelen. Nee, Tresias lijkt nog wel het meest op zijn grote held Pedro Alvarez. Ze kunnen allebei niet handelen, zijn goed in de politiek en zijn sociaal actief. Maar is Tresias dan dezelfde persoon als Pedro Alvarez? Nee, immers Tresias is niet bekend in het personenregister van onze Federatie.
Ik vraag mij nog altijd af wie Tresias dus is. Naast die naam heb ik ook een andere naam gehoord. Frederik Alvarez, de pseudoniem van die zogenaamde Tresias, heeft die boete opgelopen. Maar ach, aangezien Tresias niet bestaat, zal Frederik Alvarez ook wel niet bestaan. Dus door met een echt ingrijpend verhaal.
De kwaliteit van de sociale media daalt weer in onze Federatie. Waar er een aantal handelsperiodes terug weer kranten ontstonden en radiostations, sneuvelen al deze projecten weer. Daarom ga ik komende handelsperiode handelen en met het geld dat mij dat oplevert ieder project dat over sociale media gaat in onze Federatie steunen met 10% van mijn geld op het moment van de aanvraag.
Echter zal ik ook eisen gaan stellen aan deze projecten. Ik zal deze even kort toelichten:
- Ieder Project dient algemene voorwaarden in een clubgebouw te hebben staan welke ik beoordeel. Scoren de algemene voorwaarden een cijfer beneden de 6, zal de aanvraag niet worden geaccepteerd.
- Ieder Project dient minimaal 2 uitzendingen of publicaties te hebben gedaan voordat zij het geld zullen ontvangen, om misbruik van het geld te voorkomen.
- Ieder Project dient aan te geven waar zij het geld aan hebben uitgegeven (clubgebouwuitbreiding, investering in personeel, reclame, enz.)
Dit zijn de belangrijkste. Uiteraard zal ik ook gaan eisen dat de projecten mij ergens noemen als geldschieter of zo iets dergelijks. Daarnaast zal ik in deze column ook de projecten gaan evalueren zodat luisteraars of lezers een goed inzicht krijgen in de projecten en wat zij van plan zijn. Nog een eis dus die belangrijk is: Je moet een beleidsplan hebben voor je project. Dat is belangrijk, want daardoor kan je makkelijker opstarten. Er kruipt misschien veel tijd in, maar waarschijnlijk krijg je wel een mooie sponsoring van de Federale Overheid betaald in I-shells of een speciale behandeling in onze Federatie met de zogenaamde Premium Memberdagen. Dus ik zou zeggen, klim alvast in de pen en begin aan je beleidsplan zodat je het volgende handelsperiode al kan inleveren bij mij. Ik wacht daar met smart op, echt waar.
Maar nu even door naar een officieel moment. Ik zal maar bekend maken dat Podje de eerste was die het goede antwoord zei op de vraag over mijn identiteit. Ik zal Podje persoonlijk contacteren over het geheime gesprek met hem dat hij heeft gewonnen.
Voor de nieuwsgierigen: Tresias Aegirsson is de persoon die meer heeft betekend voor de Federatie dan iemand als Gustav Andersson. Hij is de persoon die vaker een sociale activiteit heeft georganiseerd dan welke burgemeester dan ook, schandalig trouwens dat dat mogelijk is.
Tresias Aegirsson is een jongeman die het liefst iedereen helpt waar dat mogelijk is, maar om de één of andere reden wordt hij altijd tegengewerkt, zo vertelde hij mij, zonder dat ze hem eigenlijk ooit maar een kans gaven om mensen echt te helpen. Hij had daar namelijk nooit echt voldoende macht voor of geld. Want geld is macht hier in deze Federatie. Dat zie je vooral in Digitalië, waar je het beste kan schieten als je flink veel geld hebt, en dan heb je dus pas macht want dan krijg je vanzelf wel de Koning neergeschoten.
Maar er is iets dat ik nog wil vertellen. De Federale Overheid is beter geworden de afgelopen week, ik trek hierbij mijn beschuldigen over deze Overheid en het speciale opsporingsteam dan ook in. Ze doen het goed deze week, ik hoop dat ze dat kunnen voortzetten. Immers, daardoor zal ook het burgeraantal stijgen.
Het grote geheim zal ik komende week onthullen, ik heb namelijk nu geen tijd meer om nog een aantal a4’tjes te typen, omdat deze editie bijna naar de drukkerij moet.

Iron Shortage Looms Ahead

Cashington – Iron specialists are saying the stocks are running out.
Iron ore deposits, a non-renewable resource, have quickly begun to dry up throughout Cashington. While there is still heavy competition keeping the prices low, soon enough the complete lack of Cashington iron will drive prices up. Evelyn Houston, researcher and know-it-all for the Department of Education, explains:
“Cashington deposits are known to have more iron ore than any other Virtuan deposits. As all neutral lots are equally priced at 90 ish, the cost of producing iron will go up. The entire economy is interwoven with iron, as it is an ingredient in shovels, saws, screwdrivers, and machines, as well as many other products.”
With the cost of everything potentially on the rise, trade is threatening to come to a standstill early. Cost of iron will rise to compensate for the rising cost of ore, which will then raise the price of shovels and saws, further raising prices for ore and wood, and the cycle continues.
As prices go up, people are more reluctant to make the investment into producing anything, and trade will slowly grind to a halt. The risk of putting money into products that most likely won’t be bought becomes too much, and even potential tourist income is decreased, as there appears to be a maximum price they will buy each good at. People act much the same, with a maximum price they will buy at. The value of unsold goods is simply too low to justify taking any risk with production.
Scientists are urging people to plant more iron. Iron sellers are urging people to buy as much iron as possible at the lower price so they can get about to raising prices already. However, a small group of citizens have another idea.
The Machine Users Guild (MUG) has put forth an iron-saving plan which can only be described as pure genius. MUG spokesman Screw Driver explains:
“Well, machines break. When a machine breaks, it disappears. We are investigating where the machines go, and if there is any way to get there and reuse the material. The current theories are pretty vast. One theory says that the machines are in the dumpster out back and we just need to go grab them. Another says that all broken machines are transported to the King of Digi (sic) in order to be ground into gunpowder. I’m pretty sure we fired that guy though.”
Screwdrivers are also being examined for iron recycling, as well as shovels and saws.
That Two Week Experiment

This article was originally written before the start of trading period 83. Being busy as president and wood trader I left it almost completed when the period started so I did not post it for the edition 1 as intended. When that edition was published I saw thehopehitman2 had written an excellent and very similar article so I decided to complete my article after the trading period was over, as a summary of events instead of a prediction. I changed the verbs from a future to a past tense and changed a few badly written sentences but otherwise left it almost untouched. What is so striking is how similar thehopehitman2‘s thoughts and mine were about that period. I am not publishing this to be original or to copy his article, I felt a summary confirming his predictions would be a good acknowledgment of thehopehitman2′s excellent job as both writer and editor of The Miniconomist.
To match the start of the trading period 84 with the Christmas break, we had a shorter period 83. In a sense, it was an experiment. After all, it is not unusual to have a boring third week because so many people have abandoned or closed shop that even the remaining traders are having trouble working properly. Is a two week trading period the solution?
Usually the trading period is split in a few steps:
1 – Start of the round: Everyone try to make their first shop(s) to offer their products. Money is either plentiful or rapidly disappearing because of the high prices or nowhere to be seen, until a new person logs in and make the money flow again for everyone
2 – Crazy expansion: People are making shops in other cities. Shops are too small to use taxis properly or there are problems getting a taxi. There is a parking spot shortage. Shops are either full or empty (because someone needed your products and bought them all).
3 – Consolidation: Shops are getting bigger. That makes people better able to serve the needs of their customer. We know who was successful and who was not, who have a chance at scoring high and who won’t.
4 – Hoarding of money: The traders have finished spending money and are hoarding it increase their net worth because there is nothing worthwhile to spend it on. Stock market is no longer increasing and might have started lowering
5 – Clearance sale: Trade is dying. Traders are selling the last products to have nothing left by the end of the round. If the wood, iron or gas traders have closed shop, trade is dead.
How long does each step last? It depends on the trader’s strategy and on how successful the trader is and how active the other traders are.
Now, what about the two week period, what happened? Exactly the same thing. Those steps might have not been the same length but fundamentally, nothing changed.
What does that shorter length means then? I’d say on average, everyone is about 30% lower and so the ranking is mostly in the same order as would have happened otherwise. A few traders who had a good start but a weaker second week would probably have scored lower and those who had a slow start but a good second week would have had more time to continue their ascent but the rankings would still have looked mostly the same.
The traders I see who are really affected are the stock traders who have less time to make money but with the higher number of stock options one can have they should have been able to compensate.
The only persons really affected by this are the politicians. Those who wanted to change things now have a lot less time to do it. They can adjust but it still means they must do their things quickly.
So is the two-week period a solution? Not really, it doesn’t change that much the final clearance sale step. It simply makes it shorter. But it does the same for the fun part too.
For the biggest traders who after 3 days have completed building the shops and are already hoarding the money, it doesn’t change anything. For the smaller traders, having more time might mean more time to play and expand properly but also more time to wait if they have been crowded out.
Do I prefer two week or three weeks trading periods? Since I’m addicted and I come here for the social part of the federation, having longer periods means that dreaded boring week between the periods come by less often. But that’s just me.
Theory Confirmed in Tourism Research

Blues Brand Junk, Inc., a research company that also specializes in phones and screwdrivers, recently confirmed the theory that tourists only buy in one’s hometown.
Official Blues Brand Junk spokesman Jythier recently presenting findings based on the ‘Buywatch’ program, showing that there were no foreign city tourist sales while higher-priced, similar goods were being sold in Cashington to tourists.
“One of our researchers bought a computer and a computer room, thinking that this might be a good way to gather information. Progress was slow until he mistakenly installed the ‘buywatch’ program instead of his intended ‘Baywatch’ purchase. The numbers flooded in after that.”
Speculation regarding what this means abounds. These findings are expected to reduce the exports of electronics, which tourists are large buyers of. Exporting to foreign cities, while a good theory in practice, finds itself with minimal success and even lower sales. Regardless, there is one good thing about tourists not buying in foreign stores. One feels free to price for competition, and not for tourist sales.
“I price phones lower in Centropolis and Nasdaqar. It makes sense, as there is actual demand and sales in Cashington, to leave the price higher. But in these other cities, where every sale is to another citizen, there is no way I can keep the price that high.”
While this is not a boom to the Cashington phone business, it does mean that low priced phones are available to the other cities. There is another wrench in the works for tourist sales, however. riser, a top trader, states that he hasn’t sold to tourists very often. In fact, he goes so far as to say that there is no tourist income for big traders. A net worth of $10,000 seems to be a common number mentioned for the tourism boycott.
Blues Brand Junk, being a smaller company, still hasn’t hit that landmark. We hope to someday answer the question, “Is this really it for tourism income?”
Sadly, with the availability of the Baywatch program, little is expected to get done except from typos. Unfortunately, typing a ‘u’ instead of an ‘a’ is very uncommon.
Officials are expected to hassle the Hoff within the week.
By-laws Turn Tuned into a Smooth Non-Criminal

Virtua – A new presidential by-law destroying all that is good and holy about Virtua has recently been passed by Tuned, exempting the government from the ability to commit a crime. Evelyn Houston, Researcher for the Department of Education, explains:
“The bylaw put forth states that ‘Supporting, planning, executing or any other form of supporting criminal activities by members of the Council or the Virtuan Government is not considered as a criminal activity.’ The purpose of this is to allow the Council and Virtuan government to support, plan, and execute criminal activity. For the Council and the mayors, we’re living in Digitalie.”
The utter ludicrousness of this proposal is preposterous. What is the government planning? If the government support criminal activity by a non-governmental entity, does it then become non-criminal, or is it still criminal?
Some Virtuan citizens are concerned. “We all came here; we agreed to abide by certain rules. Now the government is saying that they get a different set of rules than the rest of us. Expect your goods to be stolen, your article-writers to be planked, and your banks robbed. I mean, just look at Rats!. That guy is itching to get funds, any way possible.”
Whether this new by-law will truly affect anything has yet to be seen. President Tuned is putting it forth within a set of anti-invader laws, designed to keep Cyberian traders from dumping in Virtuan cities. President Tuned has not been seen with any firearms or explosives, causing us to suspect he has concealed them cleverly on his person. President Tuned was also not seen robbing the bank in Nasdaqar and getting away with hundreds of your hard-earned dollars. He most certainly did not cause any explosions in Cashington recently.
However, some are saying the government has been committing criminal activities for much longer. Value-added-tax, or sales tax, is widely considered normal and necessary for the running of government affairs. The definition of stealing, “Taking things that belong to others, except VAT,” very much shows that VAT would be stealing were it not specifically excluded. This is much like the way criminal activity counts, unless of course you’re a government official.
Officials are expected to arrest themselves sometime today or tomorrow.
Virtuan-Cyberian Trade War

“Because of the recent changes the state of alertness will go up.” ‘The relationship seems not to be good at all.” “I personally think Cyberians have no business selling anything on our soil.” “Supporting, planning, executing or any other forms of supporting criminal activities by members of the Council or the Virtuan Government is not considered as a criminal activity.”
This is just a small part of the threatening conflict between Virtua and Cyberië. And it all started out that promising. This article will give you a chronological overview of the things that have happened that would appear to be the worst point in the relationship between Virtua and Cyberië since the last war between both countries. That conflict started after a derogatory speech from mariadoc (Dutch link), who called Virtua “Cyberië 2″ and called her politics “immature”.
This article contains remarkable public statements, but also information from interviews and exclusive conversations between the leaders of the Federation behind closed doors!
Cyberian mediator, Joep Eerlijk, beholder of the international contacts, made a suggestion towards Virtuan President Tuned to stimulate the economy between both nations. He suggested that both countries would buy a big boat for commercial purposes and trade with each other. As a result there should always be some transport between both countries. Tuned was very enthusiastic about this idea and bought a new ship before the Cyberian approval of the pricing of the trade route.
For its part, also Joep Eerlijk could not be blamed. He notified his statement to the Cyberian Parliament. According to Joep Eerlijk this deal had three major advantages. First of all, the relationship between Virtua and Cyberië would be improved. Second, it should be an ideal boost for the economy, products of the Cyberian vessel would be bought by Cyberian traders. And third, a third part of the invested amount would be directly returned in ways of boat production tax and production-income.
Minister of Finance The Eye straightly translated this plan into cash terms and made a budget of 10,000 ISH. From this point on everything started to fail. Members of the Parliament didn’t see the point of this investment unlike Joep Eerlijk did. “These are useless trips. Leave the money in our own pockets!” is what Pedro Alvarez said. A little later he thought the plan over again and concluded positively: If the boats sail at the cost price of a trip, this should improve the economy of both countries.
To get rid of the double thoughts from Pedro Alvarez, I decided to go and talk to this rising star member of Parliament in the backgrounds of the Parliament.
“Personally I don’t see any added value in this plan. If you watch the Cyberian docks you notice that already two boats are heading towards Virtua. Yesterday I even counted five ships, there is already a constant connection towards Virtua. The first argument is on this reason useless.”
“Coming to the second point, it would be a boost for the Cyberian economy. Bullshit, it would be a boost of the economy of Eurodam, because there is the lowest product pricing of whole Cyberië. This was even confirmed by the proponents of this proposal. I rather have the 10,000 ISH divided over the Cyberian cities than giving Eurodam a Tourist of 10,000 ISH.”
Also Minister of Finance The Eye had to pay for this action. “This major amount of cash, 10,000 ISH, was just out of the blue, it wasn’t based on anything at all. Nobody even tried to make a calculation of the costs of a boat. My own calculation never passed the barrier of 6,440 ISH. What should happen to the rest of the 10,000 ISH? Giving it as present to buy more expensive products? No no, this doesn’t get my vote.” Said Pedro Alvarez.
“And still another problem, there wasn’t even anything planned where the goods would be bought. At friends and girlfriends? Or would we buy products from small traders? Nobody knows. Conclusion: There was nothing positive on the economic side because it wasn’t developed, this is the reason why I decided not to vote for this project.”
Also Parliament Member Antonio Alvarez wasn’t convinced about this idea. He barely mentioned the word ‘stupidity’. “Did we also check the fact that Virtuans might produce cheaper and that they bring in products that are going to compete with our market products?” he said. Parliament member doodvogeltje Saw a little advantage in this matter. “We have the choice between a half filled glass and a half empty glass. We can expand our own market in Virtua but we can also get more competitors from Virtua. It is the Cyberian traders who have to prove themselves.”
Also IkbenBen19 foresaw troubles. He mentioned “Digitalians with weapons come across the border way faster when building a harbor.” Antonio Alvarez added: “The relationship with Virtua doesn’t need to be improved. We never have had war and it is not about to come to us. So to do this in order to obtain a better relationship with Virtua would be rather nonsense.”
His words were not even spoken out or Virtuan Ambassador, the unofficial representative of Virtua in Cyberië, straightly told that there has been a war (see mariadoc-war) and made clear that Virtua was doing pretty good back then. President Tuned wasn’t happy about the fact that the Cyberian Parliament was taking so long on deciding. Minister of Finance The Eye was nowhere to be found, and from the Cyberian Presidential Cabinet of Switzisch, whose job it also is to monitor the foreign activity, all in all it remained silent.
I was determined to find the opinion from the Cyberian President. Some people mentioned Switzisch had no clue about what was going on. But even if this was the case, he wouldn’t show it. “Joep Eerlijk has been a mediator and he did a good job. The current situation reveals more information about the way Virtuans think. As long as Virtua stays headstrong, the problem won’t be solved. I do not see this happen with the current leaders.”
To the question what is the cause of this crisis Switzisch answered: “It is just Virtua’s stiff headed reaction. Virtua tries desperately to close their borders. There were no clear deals with them considering the boat question, so we don’t have to worry about anything at all. The boat trips of private sellers were started up early and there are already a lot of ships that sail around, so there is no use at all to waste 10,000 ISH.” Remarkable is the fact that nobody ever told the Virtuan Government that it was decided not to continue with the original plan. “Before I could tell it, Tuned revolted against us and this is the point where I decided to break contacts with Virtua all together.”
Also in Virtua people started to complain about the situation. Virtuans discovered the fact that Cyberian traders could get a subsidy for trading in another country. In the backgrounds of the Council Room, President Tuned mentioned this was a straight attack on the Virtuan economy. “Cyberian traders come to Virtua and straightly compete with local traders and undermine their prices. This will result into a higher notation in the end result list. It is a shame that the Cyberian Government didn’t tell us anything about this matter. And surely not about the high price of 2,000 ISH subsidy.” This quite remarkable tone was admired by a large part of the Virtuans. “They shouldn’t use this kind of techniques without telling us. We have to isolate ourselves. If we let them come over, they would only abuse our economy.” told Andrakon. Also thehopehitman2 couldn’t agree with the behavior of Cyberië. “Cyberians do not have any reason to come here. In the past they caused to crash our prices.”
Actually both countries say the same thing. “They come to ruin our market, sir. We don’t like them.”
In conversation with the President of Virtua, Tuned, this attitude comes forward very strongly. According to Tuned there are three main reasons why this situation escalated. The first reason is the difference in mentality of both countries. In Virtua you don’t have to be very active in contradiction to the Cyberian playing style. This is the reason why Cyberians can easily sabotage the Virtuan market. It seems that there is a historical suspicion from Virtua towards Cyberië, because the first statement every round is being proven. Second, there is this ship agreement. It is clear that it would be a good idea for both countries, a win-win situation. But if you look at the direct action of the Virtuan Government, the approval of this idea came too soon. Cyberië was still nagging (even still at this moment of speaking, redaction), then this idea seems very bad. Third, there is a communication problem with Cyberië. The Virtuan people never got any information about the trader subsiding of the Cyberian shops in foreign countries. This is being regarded as a form of disrespect.
Cyberian international mediator Joep Eerlijk places the question of guilt directly in the hands of Virtua. “Virtua prefers to have no trade with Cyberians at all. However Cyberië wants to trade with Virtua with pleasure. Virtua didn’t like the idea of the economy boost of Cyberië and saw this action as a threat to their own market. I think this is the reason why they overreacted towards the Cyberian Government, unnecessary, and in an aggressive way. We requested a small break in the negotiation and made a few deals. These deals weren’t followed by Virtua, that is the main reason why we don’t put a lot of attention in this case anymore, but we let Virtua take the initiative. Cyberië always said they were keeping all options open, where Virtua started demanding. That’s where it went wrong in my opinion.”
The direct effect of all these actions caused Virtua to make a few by-laws. These by-laws weren’t approved by the Cyberian government. The Virtuan harbor prices should be 500 ISH. It should become forbidden to trade on Virtuan soil for foreign traders. This rule could be overruled by Presidential approval, but it was clear that this action was against all Cyberian traders. The third by-law was even more controversial. The Virtuan President decided that planning and supporting attacks would no longer be a punishable act when performed by Virtuan officials. This caused Cyberië to think that Virtua was planning an attack against her.
“Especially this third by-law worries me. Virtua always seemed like a good partner to us with conversations on the same level. The way they are going right now is surely not positive. But the by-laws I think shouldn’t be a real threat to us, nor to our traders. If the Federation has a problem with our subsidy rules, they can start a normal conversation about it with us and then we can see what options are available. However putting pressure on us is surely not a good way.” says Joep Eerlijk.
As a result of the changes, also Cyberië was preparing for war. Member of Parliament Podje in the Parliament: “I would like to get elucidation about the rumor that we are hiring Digitalians to start a war against Virtua, if this is true, then I think the whole Parliament needs to get this information. If necessary we will join your special private club.” It is being rumored that President Switzisch already had contacts with high Digitalian representatives, to make sure to get the support of Digitalië if a war breaks out. Now he has raised the state of alertness, an option that we haven’t seen in a while now. Also Members of Parliament call for action. Member of Parliament IkbenBen19 asked to raise the harbor docking prices to 500 ISH and to forbid Virtuan people to trade on Cyberian soil. He also mentioned to consider activating the army option which was invented by Marcello Alvarez.
The clear aversion from the Parliament for international treaties seems strangely enough accepted by archrival Tuned himself. “International treaties are not binding documents so they don’t have any use. They don’t have any influence on the policy.” This didn’t stop him to present a new trade treaty with Ibisha a few days earlier. This shows it is possible to get things done.
A war between Virtua and Cyberië seems inevitable. Both parties start to arm themselves, prepare to start an attack or to defend themselves against attacks. And this all because of some doubtful reasons.
Is Cyberië guilty? They caused a delay in voting for the boat treaty pretty badly. This voting ended on Tuesday (second week) with a draw, but because of the absence of the President, no decisive answer is being expected before next week. To execute an idea that was mentioned to help the economy in the first days after three weeks seems a bit odd as well.
Is it maybe the fault of Virtua? Were they running ahead too fast buying a boat already without any approval of Cyberië? Didn’t they overreacted and didn’t they provoke an arms race by announcing attack plans in public?
Only one thing is certain. The statements from both countries seems to harden and it doesn’t look like there will be a solution soon. Virtua refuses to talk to Cyberië because the last mentioned would compete Virtuans out of the market. Cyberië in return refuses to talk with Virtua because they ‘reacted in an unnecessary aggressive way to negotiations that were still to be discussed’. The only one who still seems to believe in a good end is Joep Eerlijk. He officially mentions to have no more contacts with Virtua, but the redaction got to know about an arrangement between him and the Virtuan President. It seems the conversation didn’t work out, because a few moments later we saw a furious Tuned leaving in his Limcousine.
When I saw Joep Eerlijk walking outside, I started to talk with him and asked him how he looks upon the current situation. Against my expectations he too seemed a bit down. “The Cyberians will never drop the subsidies, because this would make them look ridiculous.” Virtuans won’t give in, that is clear as well. We will have to wait a little longer and then we can publish the attack plans of both countries. You thought Wikileaks was shrewd? We are even shrewder!

Virtuan Memories

I have a long history in Virtua as a trader (not as long as some but longer than most). My story is filled with mistakes, friends that have come and gone (and even some that returned after great absences), enemies, secret clubs, and a little politics.
During my time in The Federation I have talked to many traders and made many friends, but there are those select few that stand out in my mind as great Virtuans. The list is long and I could go on and on about Virtuan legends such as Goudie, riemer_1990, White Queen, Sahib, V23bsktbll, Xplay, Markallen3, Clarky22m2 and Billy Green but this list is far too great to complete properly. So I will share with you how I met two traders that are still with us and active in our Virtuan society; their names being Tuned and riser.
I was a young trader when Tuned and I first met (I’ve long since forgot the trade period but it was somewhere around trade period 66 I believe). I was stupid then and not a very good trader but I was interested in the newspaper Tuned ran called “The Begonia”. There were many people involved with the production of that Virtuan newspaper that I had heard stories about and respected very much. So one day I approached Clarky22m2 (he was an editor at the time) with an idea for the paper. It would be a series of interviews, each spotlighting an up and coming trader with high potential and give them a chance to make their story heard. To my surprise they listened and none other than me, thehopehitman2, was chosen for the first interview. I was very nervous about being in the paper and I couldn’t wait for that edition to be published (I hope that article is saved somewhere deep in Tuned’s files, it would be nice to read again). After that edition my relationship with The Begonia grew and Tuned offered me a spot on the team writing articles, which is when I wrote one of my more memorable articles “A Change of Tactics” which was republished in the TMC almost 20 trade periods later with the same message holding true. From there my friendship with Tuned grew and ended as quickly as it started. We both went our separate ways and took a long break from The Federation. But recently we have both returned and caught up on old times and even work together again. Tuned gave me the foot in the door and encouragement I needed to gain my editor degree long ago and for that I will always be grateful.
Although my history with riser does not reach as far into the past, it is still an interesting story. We both met in one of riser’s first rounds (the second I believe) and I had just come back to the Federation after a long break hungry to finally earn my advanced status after many rounds of failed attempts as a young trader in Nasdaqar (my best place in that city was 35th in my third trade period). Yearning for a new beginning I moved to Cashington where the trade had always been the best in previous periods when I was present. I met riser there and he was trading pumps and engines hoping for the same thing I was, a chance at a top-20 spot. We talked trade often, updated each other on sales and gave advice. That trade period I beat riser in the rankings, me in 23rd and him in 24th. That trade period was a special one, it marked the closest me and riser had ever gotten to the top-20 and it also would prove to be the last time I ever beat riser in the end rankings. The next period me and riser both gained our advanced status together; we wore that shiny gold “plus” like a medal of honor although riser earned his with a 3rd place ranking and me with a measly 18th. But to me that didn’t matter, we had both done it, it just took me a few more trade periods and I have long since realized that there are many traders greater than me, riser being an obvious one. That “kid” that was with me when I gained my advanced status went on to win a round for virtua and become the president of our beloved country. In a way I’m proud of him, in a way I would like to think I helped him in some way to achieve those goals (or at least make the journey more interesting for him). That is what I will always remember riser for, being the trader I once wished I was, and helping me learn that I am thehopehitman2, no more no less.
I wished I could share all my stories but I have already rambled for far too long as it is, I would like to thank all the traders who have helped me grow into who I am today and were always there as a friend. I hope I can help a young trader reach his goals someday, just like so many did for me.
Riser is Not Anoversr or Anyone Else

I am riser. I think of myself as a successful trader. I don’t know exactly what other people think of me but many think I had another identity before. I have been asked ever since I got my first top-10 spot in my third trading period if I was XXX where XXX was the name of an older player I had never heard of but was probably successful; As if anyone getting a top-10 spot required to have years of experience.
The most frequent person suggested is Andoversr. I don’t know what to think of it, I actually met that guy. He was in Cashington when I emigrated here. He was probably the most successful citizen of Cashington, having bought almost all of main street and reselling it for the max price and stealing so much stuff from people it was crazy. He then promptly hit people for the fun of it until he became bankrupted. I don’t think he lasted until day 2. I hope it was to preserve pm days or because he wanted to have fun otherwise I’m not sure if I want this to be my secret personality… Andoversr, if you read this, I have nothing against you. I just found you behavior very weird…
What is weirder is that people assume you can’t learn trading in the Federation “quickly”, as if weeks or months was “quick”. All of you who can drive a car probably learned in much less time then I spent here in my first trading period…
I finished my spreadsheet during my first week. Ever since, I have been able to calculate exactly how much it costs to make a product when you are skilled and when you are unskilled for any combination of skills. Simply by updating the street price of the products, I can see how those changes affect the products I want to make. I’ve used this to calculate how much money each product can be expected to make and how to best optimize this.
Why? Because I’m a math boy, I like to solve hard problems. Trying to calculate just how many pieces of wood are used in the production of a computer is a job for a madman but I find doing this fun. Add lots of free time to think about trading in the federation (a little less than 2 hours of bike commuting each day all summer until the end of October gave me this time) and you’ll have everything you need to find a few good solutions.
Except for products (not enough skill points per trading period), I tried pretty much all the ways to make money including but not limited to taxis, harbors, stock market, ship building, ship sailing, reselling road lots, making cars unskilled, trying to do too many products at once to crowd out competitors and many more. Some of my friends whom I spoke to at first laughed at all my crazy ideas. Most of those ideas were unsuccessful but all of them taught me more about trading here. So I got those top-10 positions because I tried to do things and lost tons of money. That’s right, without all those mistakes, I would have made even more money and scored higher. But without all those mistakes and experience, I would not have won a round.
So, how does one become a successful trader?
- calculate your cost to the nearest 0.01 ish.
- learn the in and out of trading. Try to learn as much as you can each round and try to think how to improve yourself based on what you know. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, that’s how you learn.
- trade in all cities
- be a premium member
- make shops big enough that you never come back to find it empty, otherwise, you lost sales
- work hard to keep those shops filled
- be socially active
The last one may be the most ignored part of success by new traders. You can’t be truly successful without being socially active. Not until you have a reputation anyway. Unless you are lucky enough to have no competitor, you must make deals with your clients; you must be a friend to them. This is what makes them choose your products instead of your competitor’s if both are the same price. And if you start a price war in which every hour you lower your price if you are not the lowest, very soon you will make no profit at all. I’m not saying not to lower the price; I’m saying it must not be your only tactic.
“I didn’t sell a single wood during the last hour and I’m cheaper than riser. Why don’t you buy my wood?” I remember a small trader saying in the chat on the first day of the last trading period. During that same hour, I had sold more than 5000 units of wood. Why? Because with that 10% discount, for those truly important traders I was cheaper. Because my clients knew that I would still be there 61 lots later. Because my clients knew I would refill that 120 squst shop I was building fifty times a day because I was addicted and I would be there every day up to the last day so they would not have to fear having just one active wood trader. Because we were friends.
Can anyone achieve success? Yes! Of course!
Will everyone put all the efforts that goes into being a top trader? No. That is why some citizens will be not be top trader even once.
Now that I have achieved my goal – to be Captain of Industry before the end of the year, 5 trading periods- you won’t see me being that crazy again on every trading period… it’s just too much work.
I can only hope one day some highly successful newbie will be asked: “Hey! Are you riser?”

- Digitalia is over represented in the number of thefts with 31% of total
- As a result, storing money is important. With 43% of all banks on Digitalian soil, this shouldn’t be any problem
- 16% of all Digitalian sales were made by tourists who spend 258 ISH on average
- Digitalians seem to be a bit more avaricious. They buy their average product for 207 ISH
- You better did not invest in Digitalian stocks this trading period. Digitalia represents but 15% of total stock value
- An average Digitalian stock is worth 127 ISH, while a Cyberian stock sells on average for 207 ISH a piece and Virtuan stocks even for 213 ISH
