Kaveloorlog in volle gang in Cashington

Ik zit er midden in, de ijzerhandelaren in Virtua vechten voor iedere kavel met erts er op. Ook ik moet meedoen en ben dan ook al vaak ingesloten geraakt. Maar het is misschien wel de schuld van de te kleine steden.
Vaak wordt gesproken over het vergroten van steden omdat de resources bijna op zijn. Maar kan men beter niet het aantal kavels met een grondstof vergroten in een bepaald land.
Dit zou dus beteken dat bijvoorbeeld Cyberië in totaal veel meer erts heeft dan bijvoorbeeld Virtua, maar dat Virtua weer veel meer hout heeft. Ibisha Island zou dan veel diamanten en goud krijgen en Digitalië olie bijvoorbeeld.
Maar in ieder land is dan nog wel een onderverdeling van steden waar het meeste wordt gewonnen van een bepaalde grondstof. Maar wat dan het maximum is qua erts in Virtua is dan bijvoorbeeld het minimum in Cyberië. Zo vergroot je ook de internationale handel en moet men daar meer rekening meegaan houden.
En, het weegt allemaal tegen zich op. Aan erts alleen heb je niks, je hebt namelijk hout er bij nodig. Maar aan goud heb je ook niks, behalve als je ook olie hebt. Dus zo kunnen landen gaan samenwerken. Ik denk zeker dat het te overwegen valt.
De weg naar de kern (deel 1)

De burgeroorlog duurt nu al zo’n 2 rondes lang. Woorden zoals onderdrukking, zielsaandoening en andere nemen toe in de Digitaliaanse gebergten. El Peso, kwam in opstand tegen Rednax en kwam een nieuwe waarheid tegen. De Elite was de ware baas, El Peso en Monapoli werden volledig gecontroleerd door de elite. Rednax werd neergehaald en victorie werd geschreeuwd bij de rebelse gelederen. neuroman nam weer de positie in en respecteerde El Peso zijn waarden en normen. neuroman werd neergehaald en Chiara Alvarez beklede de positie Koning. Toch is er nog altijd de nuk van De Elite aanwezig. Wat is er waar aan? Waarom verbergt de regering de informatie? En ten laatste, heeft El Peso het recht zich los te rukken?
Om dat te weten te komen ging ik op onderzoek uit in Digitalië. Mijn eerste doel was El Peso, daar was het namelijk allemaal begonnen. Ik sprak direct met pimgezel1, de beroemde allereerste Keizer van Keizerlijk Digitalië. Uit zijn verhalen bleek, dat El Peso zich niet direct onafhankelijk wou maken, maar dat het eerste eenvoudige doel Rednax doden was. Toen, The Imperialist een “ware patriot” volgens onze beste pimgezel1 besloot dat ook de Elite de vijand vormden. pimgezel1 legde mij uit dat De Elite de ware baas is over geheel Digitalië. “Het zit namelijk zo, dat zij akkoord gaan met een koning of juist niet. Vandaar dat de meesten koningen slijmen bij De Elite door hun Senator posten te geven enzovoort. Nu, als de koning het volk zint maar niet De Elite dan is deze de kortste keren ook dood en van die ellende willen wij er af.” Het was uiteindelijk The Imperialist die de onofficiële staat Keizerlijk Digitalië oprichtte op 5 december. Zijn belangrijkste citaat was: “Remember remember the 5th of December” pimgezel1 had ook gevochten voor Keizerlijk Digitalië. “Toen ik Keizer was, werd er een senaat onder mij aangesteld. Verscheidene wetten werden voorgesteld. De Senator der Militaire Betrekkingen had de leiding over de generale staf. Er werden aanvallen gepleegd, maar het was 1 tegen 10. De huizen die we lieten ontploffen waren zo weer gerepareerd en ik denk zelf dat we niemand hebben kunnen schieten buiten enkele schoten die onverwachts waren.” legde hij uit. “De voorbije ronde was er geen sprake meer van onafhankelijkheid en democratie. Er was chaos en geen bestuur want De Elite nam wraak. The Imperialistdjglekke, pimgezel1 en nog vele anderen werden failliet verklaard. El Peso’s handel was helemaal down en het erge was dat we niks konden doen.” Waren er dan wel dagen dat El Peso tegenstand wrikte? “O zeker! Ons doel was al van het begin de waarden en de visie’s van El Peso beschermen. The Imperialist had voor hoogtij dagen gezorgd. In het begin werkte de Senaat goed, waren onze legers in orde en kregen we internationale erkenning van Virtua, Ibisha en onofficieel van Cyberië. Toen is onze vlag ook ontworpen, de Kransvlag dan toch.” Nu dat ik duidelijk de geschiedenis wist van Keizerlijk Digitalië moest ik de gewone Rebel aanspreken.
Door een paar straten verder te gaan kwam ik djglekke2 tegen. Jaja, want djglekke en djglekke1 zijn beiden gesneuveld. Bij de vraag of hij goed vocht, wond hij zich op. “Ik wil wraak ja, het bloed aan mijn handen van alle Monapoliërs! Ze kwamen van overal, maar nu zijn we voorbereid! In de eerste slagvelden die er waren heb ik de geschoten tot dat mijn pistool gloeide!” Om hem te kalmeren sprak ik over en ander onderwerp. Of hij vertrouwen had in de legerleiding, daar moesten we maar ook eens over zwijgen. “Wat denk je wel? The Imperialist is de beste met woorden! Bolletripolire leidt onze stad zo goed, ook al is ie dood. Ik vecht voor hun weet je, dat noemt men kameraadschap!” Van verbazing ging ik op zoek naar andere rebellen en hun verhaal. Ik vernam van pimgezel1 dat velen al neutraal waren na de wraakactie. Op zoek naar de zeldzaamheid en uiteindelijk vond ik er een medeplichtige, indirect. Witmoca, geen ware rebel maar toch de persoon die hielp het volk in één groep te brengen. “Het was niet gewild, het was gewoon, het kwam en ik zei ja. The Imperialist kwam in vroegere tijden die hij zelf de sociale revolutie noemde af met het voorstel een krant te maken. Ik zou de technische snufjes regelen. Ik accepteerde. Het doel was dat iedereen in de krant kon schrijven, maar hij schreef de krant meestal zelf vol. Na een tijd, toen zijn revolutie begon was het een tijdschrift waarbij hij reclame maakte voor de rebellen.” vertelde hij me. “Hij is gestopt. Dat zei pimgezel1 mij toch eens. Sindsdien bestaat NDS-VVK niet meer.” The Imperialist, door velen geprezen als het ware symbool van El Peso, ik zou hem moeten spreken. Vele burgers, als ik ze al tegen kwam zeiden het zelfde, ik zie die gast hier niet al te vaak. Ik besloot terug te keren naar pimgezel1 die me weer vriendelijk ontving. Hij was even deprimerend als ik hem daarvoor ontmoette. “The Imperialist, was inderdaad gestopt ja. Toen ik hem overtuigde terug mee te doen aan onze Eeuwigdurende strijd, nam hij weer alle touwtjes in de handen. Hij is gesneuveld, met zijn ander account loopt hier soms rond.” vertelde hij me. Hij gaf het adres door waar deze persoon zou leven.
Ik begaf me naar het adres, een steegje met vuilnis. Ik riep zijn naam, “Catrondulait?”. Een man kwam uit het vuilnis. “Ja?”. Ik sprak met hem over de geschiedenis van Keizerlijk Digitalië. “Ik kwam terug van internaat, en ik werd aangesproken door Naamloze. Hij zei: Je geliefde koning is nu dood he. Wie ga je nu aanbidden? Ik hoorde van een verzet, in El Peso. Ik verhuisde, en kwam al snel aan de leiding. Ik maakte een vlag, een club en daaruit kwam direct al de vraag: Onafhankelijkheid? Ik zei: JA. Het was een zondag, dat weet ik nog en daarvoor waren een heleboel rellen geweest op de chat en op straat. Iedereen van El Peso schreeuwde dood aan Rednax en die dingen. Zondag 5 december was Keizerlijk Digitalië een feit. Onafhankelijkheid is daarbij de enige manier om De Elite weg te krijgen uit El Peso! Maar goed, pimgezel1 was de allereerste keizer. Hij deed het goed terwijl ik op internaat zat. De volgende ronde nam ik het weer over. Ik sneuvelde, ik ben nog altijd Keizer. Zolang er geen enkele ex-Senator volgens onze oude wetten niks opmerkt, zal ik dat ook blijven. Maar, er komt verandering. Ik ben een bestuur aan het hervormen, en ik hoop uit mijn hart dat heel El Peso mee werkt aan zijn onafhankelijkheid!” Hij kroop terug zijn doos in en ik vertrok uit voorzorgen van cholera besmetting. De vulkaan zou uitbarsten, en uit voorzorg vertrok ik naar Nederland. Toen ik terug kwam, was El Peso weer in opbouw en de stad groeide in al zijn glorie. Bolletripolire was niet meer mayor, maar witmoca juist wel. Bolletripolire vond ik ergens. Hij bouwde een winkel en hielp een straat aanleggen. “Ja, El Peso is verenigd. Die wraakactie gaan wij eens wreken. ” Verbaasd vroeg ik of The Imperialist er ook mee zou helpen. “Ah TI, die gast schiet nooit hoor. Spijtig, maar zoals hij het zou zeggen, Woorden versterken daden. Maar we gaan op alle sectoren wat uitbreiden. Je zult dan wel merken en zien hoor.”
Om te weten te komen waarom de officiële regering van Digitalië de toestand geheim hield, moet ik naar Monapoli. Maar in El Peso vind ik ook al antwoorden. Bij verscheidene burgers ga ik vragen wat de redenen zijn, en kan daarmee een lijstje opstellen:
- De officiële regering van Digitalië denkt dat de opstand zwak is en rap de kop in te drukken is. Zo is het de moeite niet waard er wat over te zeggen.
- De officiële regering van Digitalië is te bang dat andere landen de deals sluiten met hun en verzwijgen de gebeurde feiten.
- De officiële regering begint aan een psychologische oorlog door de rebellen het gevoel te geven dat ze niet bestaan, niet van belang zijn en vooral nooit erkenning gaan krijgen.
- De officiële regering is bang dat door internationale bekendmaking er erkenning zal gebeuren door andere landen waardoor El Peso de kans zou hebben zich onafhankelijk te maken.
Ook even de geschiedenis op een rijtje:
- 3 december, Koning neuroman II word neergeschoten. Eerste vorm van verzet verzameld zich in El Peso.
- 4 december, verscheidene Monapoliaanse burgers verhuizen richting El Peso. The Imperialist vormt “De Nationale Patriotten” om zo Rednax te kunnen schieten.
- 5 december, The Imperialist hervormd El Peso en sticht Keizerlijk Digitalië. pimgezel1 word de allereerste Keizer.
- 6 december, wetten worden besproken en diplomatieke hulpberichten worden beantwoord door de landen.
- 7 december, El Peso schiet grootschalig maar kan geen effect geven aan Rednax.
- 8-10 december, El Peso doet kleinschalige aanvallen waarbij velen tegen de grond gaan.
- 10 december, de Senaat word actiever, en dat zal voor de laatste keer zijn.
- 11-17 december, totale stilte
- 17-30 december, lichte activiteit
- 30 december, Koning neuroman III die aangesteld is door amini word neergeschoten. Chiara Alvarez eist de kroon op. Monapoli doet algemene liquidatie van El Peso waarbij vele criminelen sneuvelen.
- 30 december- einde van de vorige ronde, een leeg El Peso biedt handelsroute aan geheel Monapoli.
El Peso lag achter de rug, en vele vragen waren nog niet opgelost. Nu het ontstaan van de burgeroorlog of revolutie is blootgelegd, moet ik wel naar Monapoli om de sluier te lichten van de kern, waarom juist El Peso onderdrukt word, waarom de informatie werd achterhouden en waarom juist de elite zijn machtige vleugels over Digitalië spreidt. Daarom vertrok ik in één armzalige taxi die door de velden en heuvels van Digitalië reed. Bij de versterkte stellingen van Monapoli stapte ik over, want de taxi mocht de stad niet in. De veel mooiere taxi bracht me naar het paleis waar Chiara Alvarez verblijft. Na een kleine wachtperiode in een voorkamer, werd ik binnen gelaten. “Officieël wil ik niet communiceren. Als ze contact willen dan moeten ze maar contact opnemen.” werd er gesnauwd voor ik iets kon zeggen. Als ik vroeg hoe ze het ging aanpakken, kreeg ik dit geantwoord: “Ik stuur ze naar een bekende hamburgertent.” met een lach viel ze op de grond en kon ze zich niet meer inhouden. Een beetje nerveus vroeg ik of ze besefte dat andere leiders en spelers de onderdrukking bevestigden, het antwoord was duidelijk: “Moet ook, ik verwacht niet dat de mensen net zo slim zijn als ik, daarom kunnen ze beter luisteren naar mij in plaats van zelf domme ideeën te verzinnen. De enkeling die wel slimmer denkt te zijn dan ik, mag eerst een IQ-test doen, die opsturen naar mij. Aan de hand daarvan zal ik beslissen of hij/zij het waard is om met mij in conclaaf te gaan.” Verbaasd ga ik naar de volgende vraag of ze The Imperialist kent. “Voor zo iemand hebben ze een naam verzonnen afgekort door een x aantal letters, niet nader te noemen. Maar ik denk dat u wel weet wat ik bedoel.” Uiteindelijk ga ik weg uit schrik. Terwijl ik door de straten slenter denk ik na. Als de Digitaliaanse regering de opstand bekeek als een bende kinderen die hun zin wilden hebben, kwamen ze misschien niet tot het besef dat ze mensen zwaar kwetsten? Ook de dikke nekkerigheid dat ieder van hun uitstraalden zou hun ook wel tegenwerken in hun besef van mishandeling.
Op weg naar beagollum, kreeg ik een vriendelijk telefoontje. Ja eindelijk! Joep Eerlijk, een vriendelijke Cyberiër was aan de lijn. Door te zeggen wat Chiara Alvarez zei, reageerde hij opmerkelijk rustig. “Ze kunnen het niet aan dat die TI aan hun macht knabbelt.” zei het mobieltje. Uiteindelijk reageert Chiara Alvarez, dat trouwens geen vrouw is vrij agressief en daarmee hebben we een link naar de rebellen die zeggen dat bij die onderdrukking ook kwetsen hoort. Het gedrag van Chiara Alvarez verraad dus de positie die De Elite of gewoonweg Monapoli inneemt tegenover El Peso. Voor mij was de kern al blootgelegd, en kon ik mijn verslag al maken voor TMC.

Lot war is really going on in Cashington

I am in the middle of it, the iron traders of Virtua are fighting for each lot with iron ore. Also I have to join this war and I am already closed in sometimes. But maybe we can blame the small cities.
People often are talking about making cities bigger because nearly all resources are used. But couldn’t we increase the amount of lots with resources in a country?
This would mean that for example Cyberië receives the most iron ore, but Virtua the most trees. Ibisha could have the most diamonds and gold but Digitalië oil for example.
But in each country there should still be a difference between cities about where the most of a resource can be found. But the maximum of iron ore in Virtua is then for example the minimum in Cyberië. This will increase the international trade and people should think about this too.
And it weights all against each other. You can’t do anything with only iron ore, you need wood for it. And with only gold you can also do nothing except when you have oil. This would mean, countries have to cooperate more. I think that you should think about it.

Achievement Craziness!!

Since the achievements came out, it is a challenge to get an achievement. It is not only hard to earn one, but also very expensive if you do it only to get the achievement just like I did last round. I earned the gold achievement in Driver class. It took me my position and a lot of money, and only for the achievement.
I went to Cyberië a few times and had to repair my car for at least 3 times! And I had to buy a lot of gas. But there are also good things on achievements. First I can be proud on what I earned, second i can show everyone how crazy I am and third, other players made benefits out of my achievement craziness. Just like (Brendan) who sold me all the gas I needed for driving around. I personally think that the achievements are a good new game feature to compare who is the best in his job, or who can trade the best. But on the other side it is stupid for the MV’s, because if they earned an achievement it is there only a short time, the next round the achievement is gone…
Maybe they could convert a third of the things done to the owner of the MV, so if I have driven 3000 km with my MV, on my account I would get 1000 km. But that is just my way of thinking, if you think the same or something totally different please post your opinion at the Schneider Public club.

I have spent many an hour thinking about what could be done to stimulate the economy and so in my search I found that iHockey Schneider was also interested in this kind of achievement and so together we came up with the…
Cashington vs. Nasdaqar and Centropolis Competition.
While Virtua was having problems, the Virtuan Traders Union and the family Schneider where planning a contest between the Capital of Virtua and the other Cities, the contest will take place in Period 85 and the goal is to get the highest average net worth for your team.
Each team has 4 (or more) members one of them is the captain (chosen by the players). The current members in Cashington are Jythier, Goudie and Tuned. In Nasdaqar and Centropolis the current members are riser, takenalook and iHockey Schneider.
The winning team will get 250 ISH for each member from the family Schneider, and will be put on the winners list at http://fam-schneider.blogspot.com/p/winners-list.html.

Guest – Valuable Information or a Complete Joke?

Well, we have all had experience with Mr. Anonymous who goes by the name of guest . He can either be really offensive or really kind, either way – no one knows who he/she is. Personally, I find it really hard to ignore what guest says, especially when he makes threats of thefts, robbery or even murder.
Recently, guest has been quite active on the Virtuan chat, with both his bad English and Dutch language skills. He doesn’t give away who his/her main account is but we all get suspicious and have idea’s of who guest could be. He/she seems very aggressive and is continuously threatening citizens of Virtua, especially the Government. His abusive behavior seems quite unreal from a Virtuan citizen, yet he can abuse people without people knowing who it actually is, making guest quite a powerful account.
A acquired quote from guest on Saturday night on the public, Virtuan chat. She/he said ‘brenan dyes dan tuned dan dehophitman’. I interpreted and translated this into ‘(Brendan) dies then Tuned then thehopehitman2′. All of these people are part of the Government. Which makes me wonder whether it is a foreign citizen making us aware of plans of other countries, a Virtuan citizen that doesn’t particularly like the Government in power or just someone trying to make us afraid as part of one of their jokes.
So is it someone warning us? Or is this a weird joke that has gotten out of hand? I spoke to some local citizens regarding guest and his strange behavior and comments. The wish not to be named for personal purposes:

So the anonymous perpetrator has got Virtua talking, is he real, is he not? People have different ideas on who guest is, but one thing is for sure, if he was my guest – I would have booted him straight out of the door without any courtesy or politeness whatsoever.
Where is my Warehouse?

As part of a recent investigative report, I attempted to get together with a certain trader. I was unable to find his office in his gigantic store, so I decided to try to find his warehouse and meet him there. I opened the map.
There are no warehouses anywhere on The Federation map.
Where are these hidden buildings? I realized suddenly that I never actually go to my own warehouse, but only send directions to it without my ever seeing it. Products apparently disappear from stores into my warehouse with only a liter of gas gone to show for it.
A further inquiry and comparison with other known technologies found that The Federation is currently using patented Santa Claus space/time continuum software in order to condense warehouses to be the size of a thimble, including the entire factory needed to fabricate new products. This is also a possible explanation for the ‘teleporting’ goods via ship, but we leave this to other, better-informed writers such as thehopehitman2 and riser.
Each city was found to only have a single factory that handles all fabrication, meaning that their production costs are actually far lower than reported amounts. A forensic accountant’s investigation found that the factory workers, also known as elves, are skimming off at least half of the production costs to keep for themselves.
Unfortunately, we could not get the exact location of the warehouses. They are in the exact middle of each city, but we could not find them there. Either they are far underground, or floating above us where we could not reach without a hot air balloon, or helicopter.
While Santa’s workshop and the The Federations workshops will remain a mystery forever, at least we have proof they do exist. The belief of small children and grown men will keep these places alive in our hearts, even if we never see them.
The worker elves are expected to be held up by Digitalians within the trading period.
Virtuan Criminals

Here in Virtua there have been quite a few new criminal faces rising up. These criminals aren’t your Digitalie class criminals, but they are still criminals at that. A number of them have risen up in the last two trading periods with mostly thefts. Virtuan police are also cracking down though, with more officers deployed in the three cities, the thieves are having a harder time doing the dirty work. But that doesn’t mean they can’t/won’t continue with their criminal activities.
These criminals aren’t all bad though. In fact, with the amount of thefts, I bet that people are more inclined to buy security, which helps out our security traders! In turn, affecting quite a bit of our traders, because of the resources needed to produce such security devices.
So, what do you think… are the criminals here in Virtua truly a bad thing, or maybe even a good thing?
Government Stomps Religious Freedom

One of the hottest, fastest growing religions in The Federation is also the most despised.
Branded by officials as a religious cult with outlandish beliefs, “In-activism” seems to grow in direct proportion to the number of new citizens arriving in The Federation.
“As far as we can tell, members of In-activism seem to believe they can develop a sense of inner peace and oneness with a place they often refer to as “real life” or “the real world” just before they join the sect’s inner circle,” a detective told the Miniconomist. “These people are absolutely unpatriotic. They don’t help the economy, they don’t help in war efforts, they don’t even stock their stores or buy materials. Some of the more heinous ones will take up lots on Main Street that could be used by someone willing to sell something. It’s a travesty really.”
The reasons for joining this cult vary. Some decide trading is not worth doing. Some claim they are having ‘real life problems,’ refusing to continue to participate in this society. The feeling is apparently mutual. Evelyn Houston, researcher for the Department of Education, explains:
“Followers of In-activism, or In-activists, often do not own shops. They are, for all intents and purposes, excluded from trading. They rarely finish in top 20 positions, and almost never win. New converts are often expelled from government positions. Recent history shows two confirmed cases of this, one of which was a consul in Virtua, the other the President of Cyberië.”
This outrageousness is perpetrated throughout The Federation, but also specifically in Virtua. Virtuan subsidies are only considered for ‘active citizens’, a euphemism for people who are not In-activists. The Virtuan Awards nomination is also only open to ‘active citizens.’
There is good reason for this animosity, however. In-activism often strikes deep convictions into the hearts of its converts, causing citizens to cut communication with all other citizens. While the loss of a trading partner can ruin a trading period, the loss of a longstanding friendship is nothing short of tragic.
“We really can’t do anything about it,” the detective added. “People just have to make some decisions for themselves.”
Missing Man Found

A man missing for two weeks has been found, a source close to Officers said yesterday.
The anonymous 36 year-old man was located in a remote region of the Wood Cash store, the largest store in Cashington and possibly the Federation. At 860 SQT with plans to expand further, the store is become somewhat of a beacon for Cashington.
“I have two stores on opposite sides of town. Both of them are neighbors to Wood Cash,” Jythier said in a recent interview.
The missing man was found in the Rare Wood region of the store, which is found in the very southwest corner, in the tropical climate zone. In an interview, there were many complaints on the infrastructure in the store.
“I wanted to see the rare woods, right. I didn’t want some clerk bringing me back some crummy piece of Madeira mahogany when there was a better board. So I went back myself. I asked a clerk where the rare wood section was, and was told to walk about 50 kilometers south, then turn right. I asked if there was a tram or anything, but no.”
A survey conducted outside of the Wood Cash store (temperate zone) found that most shoppers had spent at least 12 hours trekking to find their purchases, and another 12 hours trekking back to the cashier. These customers all had vehicles. It is assumed that most foot-customers never returned.
Fortunately, shop-owners are in luck. Wood Cash offers delivery to any other store in Cashington, so long as the gas for their delivery truck is provided.
The Wood Cash store is expected to expand until it collapses in an earthquake.

General Remarks
According to the list above, this is what the top 20 would look like:
- Virtua: 9 top 20-spots, or 45% of the total top with 33% of the total Federal population
- Cyberië: 10 top 20-spots, or 50% of the total top with 40% of the total Federal population
- Digitalië: 1 top 20-spots, or 5% of the total top with 19% of the total Federal population
- Ibisha: 0 top 20-spots, or 0% of the total top with 8 % of the total Federal population
It is obvious you need to be in Cyberia or Virtua to deal with the bigger turn-overs. There is however also a difference between cities.
- Eurodam is the best choice to trade. It has 35% of total top 20-spots, while only housing 14% of the total Federal population. When all Eurodam shops belong to citizens of Eurodam, its mayor can make 6% of his citizens happy very soon.
- Kronenburg, Cashington and Nasdaqar will be able to make 5% of their citizens happy. The two Virtuan cities both possess 20% of all top 20-spots.
- You better not build a shop in El Peso, Zwollar and Ibisha. These cities are nowhere to be found in the list. However, turn-over is no profit…
Cyberia
Each edition, we will take a closer look at one country and how it performs. This edition, Cyberia deserves a closer look.
- 36% of all lots in Cyberia found a new owner
- 40% of all sales took place in Cyberia
- There were 39 thefts in Cyberia. For every 1,000 sales, there were 2 thefts
- 20% of all Cyberian sales were made by tourists
- Tourists prefer Digitalian products over Cyberian made goods. For the average Cyberian product, a tourist only spend 20% of what he would spend in Digitalia. That means 60 ISH for a Cyberian product. Maybe there is a difference in perceived quality? However, there were three times as much tourist sales in Cyberia compared to Digitalia
- On average, Cyberians spend 31 ISH a product, Digitalians 206 ISH. Maybe weapons and bombs were popular this trading period?
Een slecht begin voor 2011

Toegenomen wantrouwen, vijandigheid en gesloten grenzen. Zomaar een greep uit het woordenboek die de eerste dagen van 2011 karakteriseert. De trits zou eenvoudig aangevuld kunnen worden met spierballentalen, dreigen met faillissementen en verordeningen. Daar waar Cyberië en Virtua aanvankelijk de weg naar het buiten zochten zijn zij teruggevallen op protectionisme.
Op een internationale conventie lieten alle regeringsleiders van de Federatie zich nog van hun beste kant zien. Enige dagen na aanvang van deze conventie liep de Virtuaanse president Tuned echter boos weg. Achter de rug van de conventie om zou Cyberië export subsidies zijn gaan uitkeren, zo was zijn beschuldiging. Sindsdien voeren Virtua en Cyberië een koude oorlog met behulp van verordeningen. De strekking van deze verordeningen is inmiddels minzaam bekend: “buitenlanders mogen geen winkel bezitten”, “buitenlanders mogen zich niet op ons grondgebied bevinden”, “buitenlanders mogen geen boetes tegen onze onderdanen uitschrijven” etcetera. Overtreders worden flink met boetes gestraft en in sommige gevallen zelfs met letselschade bedreigt.
Dit is om twee redenen een slechte zaak. Ten eerste belemmert dit de vrije marktwerking binnen de Federatie. Doordat landen zich van de buitenwereld afscheren zullen de prijzen hoger worden. De winst per verkocht product zal hierdoor (wellicht) iets stijgen, de afzetmarkt zal daarentegen kleiner worden. Dit laatste is vooral voor grote handelaren erg nadelig.
Het tweede nadeel van protectionisme is dat toeristen ook een afnemende belangstelling voor een bezoek aan de Federatie zullen vertonen. Zij voelen zich namelijk een stuk minder welkom in Virtua en Cyberië. Bij een bezoek lopen zij namelijk enerzijds het risico om beboet te worden. Anderzijds lopen zij het risico om bij het uitbreken van een oorlog gewond te raken. Geen aanlokkelijk perspectief voor een (potentiële) toerist.
Het nieuwe jaar had niet veel negatiever kunnen beginnen… Behalve natuurlijk voor de Digitaliaanse guns- en kruithandelaren. Voor deze vallen de eerste dagen te karakteriseren als winst, winst en nog meer winst.
