12 month, 15 achievements, 15 times a top 5!

Author: Federal Coordinator

Since December 18 of last year all types of accomplishments are recorded in their personal passport (of profile). These accomplishments, known as achievements, can be seen by and from all inhabitants (except some shy CBI agents). Looking for the top ranks per achievement is quite difficult. Not to worry though, as after a year of trading we have a brand new overview for you, reduced to a nice top 5!

All the numbers are including MV’s and other temporary elements.

The first achievement is the Whizzkid Achievement. It shows the amount of computers made by an inhabitant (and with it for a large portion the amount of money invested in the economy through tourists). The diamond medal is gained at a thousand computers produced and two citizens have reached this mile stone so far: Podje and The Eye. Podje stopped after a 1001, but The Eye decided (suspected especially for this article) to produce some more, giving him first place in this top 5. Number 3 and 4 have exactly the same amount but are miles behind.

1: Whizzkid Achievement

The Eye 1006 diamond
Podje 1001 diamond
MCTrader 303 oil
IkbenBen19 303 oil
Juizyboy 296 oil

In total 213 inhabitants have at least 1 point for this achievement.

2: Digger Achievement
The second achievement is far more popular: 495 citizens have one or more points for the Digger Achievement, or the production of shovels. Although not the one who actually dug the most, justinote is the one who made all that digging possible, with a dazzling production of 40,439 shovels! It however only gets him to the oil (silver) medal. The top 5 all score that medal:

justinote 40439 oil
Mizzy 36329 oil
The Great 36204 oil
The King 2 31840 oil
Vincitore 30376 oil

3: Engineer Achievement
Since breakdown was introduced for machines during production, the sales of machines have risen sharply. Most plastic and gas traders will agree on that. The number one on this list is therefore not a surprise: Plastic dame! This round as well, machines will roll of the production line in massive numbers since this trader has focused on oil, plastic and obviously… machines!

The top 5 performs excellent, with all having at least a golden medal:

Plastic dame 4202 diamond
MCTrader 2832 diamond
the mister 1299 gold
mixer 1230 gold
The Eye 1108 gold

In total 383 inhabitants have at least 1 point for this achievement.

4: Retail Achievement
With almost 2500 citizens scoring at least one point for this achievement, it is one of the most popular ones – and with a good reason: all sales start in shops! The first medal is earned when reaching 350 squst of build space, so it’s no surprise that just under three percent of the population has managed to earn a medal. Fierce wood trader the hawk is congratulated: he was the only one with a golden medal, until Likemyitem got his golden medal exactly on December 18!

The top 5:

the hawk 3516 gold
Likemyitem 2100 gold
whooty 1520 oil
Craftsman 1341 oil
Plastic dame 1268 oil

5: Thug Achievement
On previous achievements Digitalian traders seemed to be under represented. As expected, this one is their favourite! The top 5 is entirely accountable for Digitalia (even though Rednax and sugarfree are currently living in Cyberia, the majority of their points have been acquired during their stay in Digitalia). What do you do with earnings: make lives of others a living nightmare! The top 5 (with two golden medals) may rightfully name themselves the most criminal core in the Federation:

Technix 1777 gold
Rednax 1710 gold
Troel 944 oil
Chiara Alvarez 795 oil
sugarfree 765 oil

In total 185 inhabitants have at least 1 point for this achievement.

6: Hammer Achievement
Loved by alert citizens in total control of their cost price, hated by governments who see the costs of auctions rise sharply every new period (in period 96, the total costs for auctions were 390,000 I-Shell). There is only one citizen with a diamond medal, as well as one with a gold medal. We’ve seen him in the lead before, at the Engineer Achievement: Plastic dame! martijn5 is the only one with a gold medal, the rest of the top 5 will have to settle on the oil medal:

Plastic dame 1424 diamond
martijn5 431 gold
goudie 363 oil
Bossebol 332 oil
Podje 323 oil

In total 683 inhabitants have at least 1 point for this achievement.

7: Victory Achievement
After a year of achievements, we should have 13 inhabitants with this achievement. However, viraxje and the hawk mess up this statistic by winning two trading periods in the past year! To honour all winners, we present you the top 11:

viraxje 2 clay
the hawk 2 clay
goudie 1 clay
Joep Eerlijk 1 clay
whooty 1 clay
thiefo3 1 clay
martijn5 1 clay
alfondo 1 clay
gelaarsdekat1 1 clay
Craftsman 1 clay
justinote 1 clay

8: Promotional Achievement
We would like to applaud every citizen with a point for this achievement. By voting for Miniconomy you don’t just make some extra cash or the occasional Premium Member days, you also make sure new inhabitants can try their luck in the Federation. Voting for Miniconomy is therefore beneficial for many reasons! Extra special thanks go out to the top 5 for their not totally selfish efforts:

dara 166 oil
The King 2 136 oil
the mega handelaar 129 oil
the hawk 82 clay
viraxje 77 clay

In total 331 inhabitants have at least 1 point for this achievement.

It goes to show that dara does not only support newcomers with answers on their questions in the chat, but she also makes sure more people come to the Federation. Well done!

9: Landlord Achievement
With over 4100 citizens having at least one point for their Landlord Achievement, this must be the single one most popular achievement! Inhabitants of the Federation obviously greatly believe in the benefits of owning large amounts of land. This of course makes sense, since the ground provides us with all of our wealth. Yet again, only one trader was able to reach the golden medal, and he already has two diamond medals as well: we find Plastic dame to be the best ranking citizens once more, even though large amounts of ground seems unnecessary for someone who makes a buck load of machines?!

Plastic dame 10680 gold
the hawk 5462 oil
martijn5 5161 oil
The Eye 4813 oil
Likemyitem 4719 oil

10: Richman Achievement
Even though many inhabitants of the Federation are still in school or college, they still tend to spend quite a lot on Miniconomy. It is thanks to these players that Miniconomy is still running after almost 10 years, and that’s worth a very big THANK YOU! Even though we only show you the top 5, every single credit is a credit we use to keep Miniconomy going strong. We thank all students, college students, drop outs, labourers, unemployed, pensioned and other inhabitants who have bought credits in the past and the present. You helped in keeping us going after all those years!

The top 5:

Technix 4637 gold
Troel 1706 oil
Rednax 1627 oil
Chiara Alvarez 1323 oil
justinote 1152 oil

This top 5 shows a great similarity with the top 5 Thug Achievement. It seems living the criminal life can be quite expensive!

In total 540 inhabitants have at least 1 point for this achievement.

11: Lucky Bastard Achievement
If trading is not your thing, but you still want to earn some money, you can always try your luck at the Fed30 Lottery. With prices up to 5330 I-Shell your cash can still increase quite significantly. Which inhabitants rely most on luck instead of their trade potential? The top 5:

The King 2 39650 diamond
The Eye 21110 gold
Ralgon 17220 oil
goudie 12070 oil
dmystic 11660 oil

With just under 250 citizens that ever have won money at least once, it seems that trade is still preferred over trying to get lucky.

12: Workaholic Achievement
Although the Federation should be a place of relaxation for its citizens, there are always those who think working is the way to spend spare time. Despite that, traders may applaud these people: they make sure that the traders can do their thing in a country that is stable, provides help for those needed and that improve overall trade… that means, if they’re actively doing the job they’re supposed to do! (Brendan) is the one who at least tries his very best to make Virtua a great country.

The top 5 most hard working citizens:

(Brendan) 841 gold
bonanza 737 gold
Joep Eerlijk 674 gold
gelaarsdekat1 646 gold
Tuned 643 gold

In total 388 inhabitants have at least 1 point for this achievement.

13: Entrepreneur Achievement
Found a market niche, but no ways to fill it as natural person? Not to worry, a Miniconomy Venture offers the solution! Traders see them as excellent ways to get into new markets, or to set up banks, harbours or taxi companies. It’s a big and expensive investment and with every new one, the costs rise greatly. Still traders like to make use of them and when used right, large profits are made. The top 5:

Likemyitem 44 oil
the hawk 29 oil
cami 28 oil
justinote 21 oil
Craftsman 20 oil
Chiara Alvarez 20 oil

In total 307 inhabitants have at least 1 point for this achievement.

14: Driver Achievement
When a trader limits himself to his domestic city, he can never achieve maximum profits. Opening shops in other cities and even other countries is therefore usually a very smart and profitable move. To transport all those wares, taxis are needed… a lot of taxis. Federal Government (65.824 kilometres) supplies each country with a limited amount of –quite expensive- vehicles, but citizens themselves find the taxi business to be a good investment as well. The top 5 most travelling citizens:

Podje 21186 diamond
The Eye 20070 diamond
Vincent – Turner 14444 gold
martijn5 13021 gold
alecto 6094 gold

In total 249 inhabitants have at least 1 point for this achievement.

15: Addict Achievement
Last but not least: how addicted is Miniconomy?! An achievement one may be proud of, but also one which should be considered right before the start of –for example- a period of difficult school exams. We don’t judge and hope that every day in the Federation has been a good one!

The top 5:

Craftsman 15 295 oil
(Brendan) 15 288 oil
Remcowouter 15 285 oil
takenalook 15 285 oil
The Eye 15 282 oil

In total 6807 inhabitants have at least 1 point for this achievement.

In this top 5 are a lot of CBI agents and Federals. Because their log ins are registered not for three weeks per month but all four (they have no guest access) they can gain much more points. This is why these accounts are not in this top 5.

Congratulations to all winners and good luck acquiring even more points and medal!

Garfield isn’t done talking yet

Author: Garfield86

Even a well fluent cat can run out of words… In anticipation of the edition of December 22nd in which Federal Government will write an extensive article about the achievements (which then run for a whole year), the redaction of The Miniconomist asks all readers to think of a line to place in the text balloon. Your idea may be sent to tmc@miniconomy.com or via the TMC-mailsystem and the best idea will be put in the comic and will beautify the article about the achievements.

De name of the winner will of course be put in the comic as well and the winner also receives 750 I-Shell of price money!

Remember, remember

Auteur: Guy Fawkes

Remember, remember the fifth of November,
gunpowder, treason and plot,
I see no reason why gunpowder treason
should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes,
It was his intent
to blow up the King and the Parliament.
Three score barrels of powder below,
Poor old England to overthrow:
By God’s providence he was catch’d
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, make the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!
Hip hip hoorah!

Ibisha – the well oiled machine

Author: Craftsman

It’s a quiet evening some days after the 92nd trade period closure and the official win of the first spanish speaking trader in the Federation. Everyone on the small island is at alfondo’s beach house celebrating his triumph. Government leadership and local entrepreneurs are all rejoicing for Ibisha’s success. One of the people that made sure everyone noticed him was martijn5 with his trademark slogan “I love money” and handing out business cards for his chip empire. Others like Bruja, The Great and geronimus were discussing how the new automobile business has made their lifestyle easier and were racing each other down the beach front’s street toward the National Harbor. There you could still see R3knowAL carrying his trademark bulletproof vest and single-shot diamond plated guns on his waist inspecting the ships for criminals and sabotage. All people celebrating, old faces or new, have one thing in common which is cooperativism.

President marcelbuter continued with the islands financial trends while creating new fiscal measures that ensured everyone had a successful trade period. These measures along with the good hearted cooperativism go with the socialist democracy model that plays a vital role on how things are done in Ibisha. Each trade period government and trade products are discussed practically by each citizen in a private building near the Ibishan gold mines. Here everyone discusses what needs to be done, who would be a good candidate for presidency and how products need to be done for the well being of the island. This may sound normal to some citizens of other countries but the harmony in which the ibishan cooperativism works has been surprising for many rounds and has impacted many foreign traders. No matter if you are trading iron or screwdrivers you are seen as an important part that moves Ibisha and that creates a good bond between traders that reduces competition and promotes brotherhood and trade volume for all. This philosophy has brought foreign traders for one or two periods to see and feel what trading in Ibisha is. It has helped grow the island with clever and helpful traders that contribute to the economy instead of taking what they can. So far it has worked and some could argue that it may not last for long but as long as Ibisha has the dedicated people it has had for the past eleven periods it will still grow step by step to be a fun place to live.

From BB to AAA

Author: bonanza
Translator: White Queen

Everyone who followed the news during the last weeks, should know what the subject of this article will be. Greece has one, Germany as well and even China is in. Less well known is that individual countries in the Federation receive a credit rating as well. State finances, it is not the easiest subject for conversations in the Federations, but it does influence your daily life. How are these things going in the Federation and why are politicians keeping the country rating so secret?

To speak bluntly: because they are bad. Or at least, at the beginning. I am pretty well informed about the Cyberian state finances and so I will write this article based upon those, but it is perfectly applicable for other countries in the Federation, because everybody is dealing with the same problems.

The state budget is a sum of all incomes and expenditures done in a country. Incomes are amongst others the revenues from lot sales, VAT, fines and production costs. Expenditures are the budgets cities receive, the 1.000 ISH you receive at the beginning of the trading period and all auctioned products.

In the past we received a starting budget from the Federal Government to be able to pay these first expenditures (cities for example have to receive 30.000 ISH before the start of the trading period). These days the Federal Government is a little less generous and we no longer receive the reserves we’ve build up earlier. So we start with an empty treasury. From that empty treasury we do have to pay the city budgets immediately (120.000 ISH for Cyberia) and all 1.000 ISH starters money that Cyberians receive. That means that we start the trading period with a hole of almost 200.000 ISH in the red numbers.

At this moment we do not pay interest on these debts and so it is not that bad to have a negative budget. However, this does have important consequences. Cyberia never reached the 0 during the first week this trading period, so the basic needs like ministries, courtrooms, police stations and exam rooms could not be started. Thus, ministers are literally a week unemployed, even though they are legally obliged to get things running earlier.

The cities are starting to have problems as well after such a long period. The bad situation should not have taken a day longer, or there would’ve been serious problems for the Cyberian economy. The tourist boom the Federal Government send into the Federation saved Cyberia just in time (and probably the rest of the Federation as well).

After the first week the money kept flowing in and the mayors did not know where to invest first. The result is clear. The Cyberian cities are having nice surpluses of more than 30.000 ISH and the national treasury has almost 400.000 ISH that will never be used before the end of the trading period.

The question that appears then is whether it is positive that we are so depending on Federal input to save our economy at the beginning of a trading period and that we do not know what to do with all these surplus I-Shells at the end of the trading period. Why are we not allowed to take control ourselves and decide our direction? Why can’t there be a more balanced policy?

The Solutions
The conclusions are simple: there is too little money at the beginning of the trading period and there is way too much money at the end of it. The needs are the reverse of the reality. We need a lot of money in the beginning of the trading period to support the economy and we need less at the end when the economy can sustain itself.

The Federal Government should think of a new system that takes these facts into consideration. There should be some sort of central bank where countries can borrow and invest money. Loans on long terms (at least a week in this case) could be terribly expensive (for example 50 to 100%) to avoid excesses. This way governments will be stimulated to invest smart, because if they loan too much, they will have to be frugal in the second and third week to be able to pay their interests. This system does provide the possibility to have enough money in the begin of the trading period when it is most needed.

This means you should be able to invent a system that does not require any game changes, but will benefit the economy and will allow to get the social part (like justice) working earlier. Taking a loan on day 1 for the duration of 1,5 week is more expensive than taking a loan for 1 week. The later in the round you borrow, the lower the interest (it shows a certain problem in the country).

But the contrary can also occur. The Federal Government whishes that the cities are not gathering excessive amounts of money and because of that they abolished the treasuries that were carried over the rounds. However, this does take away any incentive for the countries to be economic with their money in the last week when trade begins to decline. Why shouldn’t there be a possibility to invest surpluses of the treasury (which will be lower anyway because of the interest that should be paid over loans) in the Federal Central Bank, after which the Federal Government will invest extra in tourists for the country? It gives countries the possibility to invest their money in a good way and it will support the trade when it seems to come to a standstill.

Federal Government, please give countries the possibility to lighten the precarious situation at the start of the trading period with (expensive) loans and offer then the option to invest the surplus of the treasury in useful projects which will be in the best interest of the citizens. Make the Federation an AAA rated credit system!

Conspiracy theory? Ramblings of a mad man or Truth?

Author: XtraBu77on

You decide!
Ever since I left the president position many rounds ago, I have been a bit inactive due to my working schedule. I hoped to reconnect and help many people this round by holding the position of Mayor in the town of Cashington. My fun and connection with other players was abruptly halted when I was taken to court over the following by-law:

“By-law 1 (aka Expansion and Creation By-Law)
1) It is prohibited to own more than 2 empty lots by any road lot without it being for sale for no more than 110 I-Shell.
2) It is prohibited to block expansion of shops in terms of empty lots. This includes, but is not limed to, the owning of an empty lot directly behind someone else’s store. These lots shall also not be sold for more than 110 I-Shell.
Violators have until April 11, 23:59 to fix these offences. A fine will be given at that time of 250 I-Shell (per lot) and 400 I-Shell (per lot) ever day thereafter. Violator has 72hours from first fine before the mayor of Cashington will ask for bankruptcy and all fines paid.”

It is well known by all who have ever been mayor that there are always citizens occupying empty lots on the road, and in the beginning of the round those lots are greatly needed. For whatever reason, this by-law was found unfit by the Virtuan Court with no explanation. There was criticism that it was because I said I will declare people bankrupt or what; I still stand by the fact that it says I will ask for bankruptcy, it is known that I can’t request for bankruptcy. However not to bore you, I’ll move on, you can still see the case in the Virtuan Court.

Now while you’re looking around the Virtuan Court, I would like you to take note of the judges there, now look at our Council’s. You will notice that pimgezel1, and sahib are all judges and members of the Council. They also happen to hold moderator status, which is understandable… But why all Council members? Now (stick with me here) I would like to take you all back to a time when (Brendan) was president and enacted by-laws restricting trade etc. That however is not what I would like you to focus on, you may or may-not remember his Council. I know of a few members: pimgezel1, Tuned and Rats!. You also may or may not remember the following round when Tuned was president also bringing Virtua to the brink of warfare, his Council: (Brendan), pimgezel1 and Rats!.

Now, let’s come back to this round. It is well known that Virtua strives to be a democracy, and in terms of presidential elections it is. It is after that point however we have gone terribly wrong. Since my inactivity, the assembly was removed, essentially muting the voice of the people after the president has been elected. They give us the ‘courtesy’ to talk about Government affairs in the ‘Council Public’ club and have ‘graciously’ allowed us to view their discussions in ‘Council Private’ club, which is not and cannot be private given VL 1.1.5. After expressing my views on a topic they were talking about I was told that I may not speak in the ‘private room’, which I can understand in matters of voting because I have no authority to vote. However, I feel that as a citizen of Virtua, (and by the mentioned law) I have a right to voice my opinion on a matter that concerns me, the people I may represent, the Country as a whole, and those who do not speak (new players, etc.). Apparently, viraxje does not feel the same way and has as a result given all members not participating in the council, a chat ban.

I know that since most of you live outside Virtua you don’t particularly care about Virtuan politics, but you must remember these are the kinds of people your leaders are dealing with.

I would now like to apologize for you reading that whole thing, but I feel that I needed to get this off my chest so I can enjoy the game a bit more (and I try to remember… it’s only a game :P ). I can’t let things like this build-up inside because then I tend to explode and say things I shouldn’t. Thank you for taking the time to listen.

Cashington versus Nasdaqar and Centropolis

Author: iHockey Schneider

Last round the Virtuan Traders Union and Schneider organized the Cash vs. NSQ and CP contest at round 85. The Cashington team was led by The Mysox1, his teammates where: Jythier and Goudie. The Nasdaqar and Centropolis team was led by iHockey Schneider with riser and takenalook as members. After a trade full and long period, the results finally came. After calculating a lot, I came to the result that the Nasdaqar and Centropolis team won with an average of 24. The Cashington team lost with an average of 34. The Nasdaqar and Centropolis Team is now published at the Winners list:

http://fam-schneider.blogspot.com/p/winners-list.html

We hope we can do the contest more often and hope that also new or different people will join our contest.

Again Congratulations to the Nasdaqar and Centropolis team from the Virtuan Traders Union and Schneider.
