What a spectacular in-between-round we’ve had! Streets have never looked better with these tall skyscrapers battling to be the highest of each island. Cooperation proved to be vital to claim victory and in the end it was Delta Island who had the best cards to show.
This one week in-between-round was characterized by two vital differences compared to previous trading periods. There were ofcourse the skyscrapers which added a complete new element to the existing trading flow, but there was also the open participation option in stead of a closed subscription process. This impacted the trading flows on each island profoundly. While the Dutch-speaking islands Alpa and Gamma took off really quick with almost double the amount of players compared to the English speaking islands Beta and Delta, the latter two islands soon catched up during the evening (server time) as the non-European players joined their fellow island citizens. Alpha Island however immediately took advantage of their impressive early start and was one of the first to be able to build the big skyscrapers. They held on to that superior position until Thursday evening, after which Delta Island (with more and more citizens joining the battle) catched up and even overpowered Alpha Island. That final spur proved to be the winning method as they ended up with substantially more levels of skyscraper than the other islands combined. But how much exactly?
The number of levels tells enough. Gamma Island could only build 15, Beta Island 57 and Alpha Island managed to build 162, of which more than half quite early in the round. Delta Island built 307 levels in total of which more than 2/3 in the last couple of days.
The number of overnights is also an interesting one. Gamma Island could only register 34 in 3 towers (of which Plastic dame accounts for all but 1), Beta Island registered 54 in 17 towers (of which more than half on the account of Tresias Aegirsson). Delta Island had 71 registered overnights in 63 towers of which 57 overnights in the skyscrapers of ultimate winner Riviat. Alpha Island tops them all with 112 registered overnights in 30 towers.
