Since the world has been reshaped in various new islands, and new cities have arisen from the ashes of the old world, some of us wonder about the meaning of the new geographical names. One very mysterious island in the east even holds an emotional story unknown to newer players.
Fort-De-Franc is an enigmatic city. Its strange, abandoned harbor just sits there on the shores of an island that is an absolute gem. And you might want to take that literally: the islands soil is completely filled with diamonds, the likes never seen before in the Federation. Above the ground you can hardly tell of this abundant riches: there’s only one single road on the entire island, and one lonely building besides it.
So where do we find that emotional story this country is known for?
Take a closer look to the name of the island. Martijnique was named after a legendary trader and politician, Martijn5, who used to be feared and respected among his opponents. He created wealth with techniques others never even dared to dream of, his negotiating techniques are still evoking awe among the people he knew. He knew all the ins and outs of Miniconomy, and he was the person you needed to go to for political and economical advice. Somewhat of a giant, you might say, and so all of the Federation was shocked to find out that Martijn5 was very ill. In the end we all rooted for him to get better, but sadly enough we had to say goodbye.
Today it is one year ago that Martijn5 passed away. He is still very much missed and his legacy echoes through all the islands, not just that of Martijnique. Future generations that come to the Federation without knowing who he was will have to do with all the stories that are still being told about him. The island, named in his name, will forever remember how much we miss him.
