As would have been seen by this point by many people in the Federation, there has been a culture clash in Guilderland between a pro-crime section of the population and the anti-crime government. There is only so much I can comment on being an outsider, but by various talks and actions over the last few months it is my opinion that when the new Federation was created, there was much higher harmony between the mainly Ibishan and Virtuan Traders than in Cyberie and Digitalie. The dis-harmony in the newly formed Guilderland has festered into the current situation where many people see laws as only black and white either for or against crimes with no middle ground. Any other reason to make a law, like for better trade or improving the lawbook in general has been put on the side-bench to fight this legal war.
It appears there is no way out for either side in the dispute. The criminals speak mainly Dutch and their homes and hearts are already in Cashwijk, leaving little option to move to United Blingdom to escape the shrinking part of society they are allowed access to. On the other hand the current government is taking drastic measures to cut crime based in part on powder licenses and officers, but with main options blocked by a certain International Treaty. Many supporters of the government are rather leaving the game than make efforts to improve the situation, or are not willing to play because of the criminal threat, and yet again not willing to move cities.
The situation is made up of 2 parts. There is close quarters in Cashwijk between the 2 groups leading to hostilities throughout the round, yet neither side is willing or able to create a Dutch Player Country to fit their needs, possibly due to low player numbers.
As it stands there is only one way to go in Cashwijk because there is no middle ground for all to enjoy. The town is too small for both, one will either leave totally or the other will be excluded from so many aspects of the game that they may as well not be citizens.
What remains to be seen is this, is there a solution that all can agree on and live by? And if there is, who decides?
