How to win the round – part 2

In the previous edition, The Eyes and Troel talked about how you can win the round if you make your own energy. < ! - more ->

We came to an energy price of 52.5 cents per kWh. With such an energy price it is of course not such a problem if your first free energy is all gone. Suppose we now use our homemade energy to make our own saws. For a saw you need iron, wood and a screwdriver. Because we are still assuming the start of the round, we will also use those prices. For an iron we pay 10 ish, we use our own wood and a screwdriver costs us 30 ish, but it can certainly also make 20 saws. Making a saw without skills costs 10 kWh. The costs for our saws are therefore around 17.5 ish (10.00 + 0.55 + 1.50 + 5.25 = 17.30). At that time we already have a profit of 2.5 ish compared to buying a saw. A cheaper saw not only makes the trees cheaper, but also the boards that we make.

If we use our own saw for sawing the trees from the plot and for sawing the trees into planks, we pay 48 cents per wood. With wood for 48 cents, the energy that we can make from it is suddenly a lot cheaper. We only pay 49 cents for our energy. And with energy of 49 cents, our homemade saws become even cheaper. A saw would then cost less than 17 ish. You could calculate this nicely further in an excel, but you are stuck with a constant cross-reference. For our further calculations we now use a saw price of 17 ish, a wood price of 48 cents and to make it very easy for us, an energy price of 50 cents.

In addition to having wood for making energy, ovens are also needed. That’s the next thing we’re going to look at.

An oven costs around 300 ish if you buy it. If you make it yourself, you need 30 stones (195 ish) and 1 glass (30 ish). For the production you lose 150 kWh without skills, which is equal to 75 ish. Making a furnace without skills with your own energy, costs just as much as buying an oven. At least if you buy the raw materials for the oven and round up the energy price as here. Because was if you are going to make it yourself?

You now buy 30 stones and you have lost 195 ish for that. But if you make it yourself, a stone costs you a lot less. Even if you bought the required clay for 1 ish each, you would not have lost 5 ish for a stone. With stones for 5 ish you can make an oven for 255 ish. And with an oven for 255 ish, your stones will eventually become cheaper again.

The same goes for making glass, although that will only be really beneficial if you also start making those raw materials yourself. The cheaper your glass and the cheaper your stones, the cheaper the ovens and that goes up again and again.

But how are you going to win with this? We will tell you that next time!
