Since the start of the 49th trading period a well organised group of rebels tried to sees power in Digitalia. The events started immediately after the first traders set foot on Federation soil. In El Peso unknown traders tried to seize a monopoly over iron and wood trade. In Monapoli newcomers also tried to monopolies wood trade for themselves. An attempt to take over the main products of trade alone could trigger a small war in Digitalia. But that was just a small part of the pie. As soon as the first arms dealer started to sell guns a heavy fight over the Royal Palace occurred. Several royal guards were brought over to hospitals in the United States and Canada in order to give them the medical attention needed. Even the king was shot twice before he could go into hiding.
Only minutes after the first gunshots were fired on Washaway I the Digitalian aristocracy retaliated with firm action. Commodore’s Naamloze and Master79 rounded up some marines and started to clear the city of El Peso. The main target of there operation was to eliminated iron trader and rebel leader Pogo. After they completed there mission the marines were trapped in the bitter door-to-door fight in downtown El Peso. The battle lasted for many hours and even caused some unfortunate mistakes. For example Snerrie1992, an honest citizen of El Peso, was shot into bankruptcy after he left his house during the fight. But in the end the Government forces were victories and the rebels were utterly defeated.
After the victory over El Peso the main fight shifted to Tripolire. It became a mayor bulwark of rebel activities, even the heavy defended Royal Fortress became a target for the rebels. Commander in chief of the armed forces (Washaway I) and the head of secret police (VERNederlander) than joined all there forces in an attempt to stop all rebel activities. After two days of hunting down the last rebel leaders (granaatje and mortiertje) all rebels were killed and peace was restored. Although peace isn’t the good word to describe the situation in Digitalia. There are still a lot of gunfights, but that is to be called the normal situation in Digitalia.
Less normal is the reaction of the Digitalian elite after the rebels entered Digitalia. The Digitalian elite kept unified around the king, although a palace revolution would have succeeded undoubtedly. It seems that the popularity of Washaway is still huge among the important Digitalians. That might be the main important reason that the revolt didn’t succeeded.
