Last week, two mayors were dismissed in Cyberia by the parliament. Reason? They made a by-law which forbade criminals to be on the territory of their city, respectively Eurodam and Kronenburg.
Two dismissed mayors, a lawsuit in the International Court and a Federal Government who vetoed one dismissal. Cyberia has gone through some heavy weather last week. It was Wednesday the 27th of January when The Minic, mayor of Kronenburg made the following by-law:
“From Wednesday the 27th January 06:00 AM is it forbidden for everyone with the status of criminal, gangster or criminal mastermind to be within the boundaries of Kronenburg
Violation of this by-law will be punished with a fine of 500 ISH at the start of every hour that will be spend in Kronenburg.”
The mayor of Eurodam, Tha Game Master, followed up soon.
It was a by-law against which Digitalia reacted with anger, as they regarded it as a threat against themselves. According to The Minic though, the target were criminal Cyberians, not the Digitalians. As reason The Minic declared that crime was running rampant in Cyberia, and the parliament was doing nothing against it, so he took faith in his own hand by making this by-law.
The parliament wasn’t amused as well, and a voting was passed to dismiss both mayors. A heated discussion started in the Achterkamertje, the place where politicians and citizens meet each other, very much like our own BoC Public.
In the end, only The Minic was fired, as the Federal Government decided they would not fire the mayor of Eurdam, Tha Game Master, thus overruling a voting of the parliament.
In the end, this was a very interesting case, while the verdict still has to be given by the International Court. This verdict will essentially decides whether these by-laws were illegally discriminating.
