Why Do I Play Miniconomy?

Author: (Brendan)

It is an understatement to say that a person simply plays Miniconomy. From the day of signing up to live in the Federation I have been fully immersed in the game, residing in the world of politics and social interaction. For me, it is the people who truly build Miniconomy and it is for that reason that I have remained dedicated to playing, sometimes perhaps overdedicated. The way people interact with each other, how everyone’s actions affect another and how somehow, the players still manage to come together to enjoy life in an online world motivated by business, politics and economics.

Over the past few years, I have met some true characters. People from all over the world settle in Miniconomy making it such an interesting and diverse place to be. People learn from each other. Whether it is a debate on the differences between countries or cultures, there is always something happening. I have met people from every corner of the earth, people who I’d never normally have a chance to meet and to me that is such an enriching experience which makes Miniconomy feel more than just another online game. The people enjoy talking about real life issues and in game issues alike and it’s really just a nice community spirit, it’s natural like diosmose.

The politics in the game are a good representation of the real world that allow for a great form of role playing. A combination of a truly diverse community and a player led game, it is really unknown what will happen and what the outcome of a certain situation will be. This leads to a fantastic political world where nothing is certain. The game is moulded by the players and the law changes made by one government can affect the entire game. There are no boundaries to what can evolve in Miniconomy.

While it may seem a bit bizarre that I have not yet mentioned the trading aspect of Miniconomy, for me it is a secondary factor of while I play Miniconomy. I find it much more interesting to set myself political goals as that suits my personality more. I find it more interesting to understand the theory behind trade and control the factors that will determine how trade and society actually run. I have achieved what I wanted in trade and while I’m not the best at it, I would perhaps one day like to win a round.

And that’s why I ‘play’ Miniconomy. I play for community, social side and politics. I play for the fun of playing and hope to remain living in the Federation for a long time.
