‘’Democracy is difficult’’. Who has never heard this slogan? Even in the Federation, the establishing of a political system is very difficult. Rome hasn’t been built in one day and so our democracy became better though falling and getting up again. New things were being launched, bonds were made and promises broken. Politicians don’t change, as it seems. But still… Beginning from zero is far more difficult. (And maybe more interesting) than continuing on an already existing text. The first politicians of the Federation have been working hard and complaining a lot to get a democracy in which they were being helped by the Government. But what has exactly happened? En did it al go smoothly? Here is the story of a tender democracy in our beloved state Cyberia during the first five periods.
A political ( r )evolution
Who thought that politics was already there at the beginning, is way wrong. Not until 21 Februari 2002 (period 2) there was a sign of politics in Cyberia. (The other lands were not founded yet). But don’t think much of it. The social part of Miniconomy was introduced after the founding of clubs and the first proposals to create differences on urban level. They wanted to let the citizens make choices about their cities and especially when it comes to criminality, recreation and education.
The reactions were coming quickly. Four days later, four political parties were founded who demanded more participation for the inhabitants in the forming of the democracy. The most important issues were subsidy, security, the way the market works and new options. Totally in it’s own timeline. The government claimed that they were thinking about raising a National Parliament where the citizens can make their opinions clear.
On 3 March, a justice system was created, although it is likely that before that there was a court already. The new justice foundation would treat appeals. Mater Justitia is guarding us.
The first real trial of this newly found institute doesn’t wait very long. The well-known Richard opens a case about extortion and cheating.
11 March is a new record in the political history. In TMC is a large and detailled plan for the future democracy. The founding of a parliament with twenty members and a chairman coming from the biggest faction. Also for mayors, something had been worked out. Only a person with COI, Advanced or Beta-tester could put themselves on the list for the very desired occupation. Around 15 March, the well-known symbols for Lawyer, member of parliament and judges were introduced. The last status however has never been used.
The First elections
On 5 April 2002 it finally was ready. The first democratic elections – and actually the first elections – took place. This first test immediately tributed to some spectacle. They were surprisingly won by Groen-Cyberië which formed a coalition with Lijst Fortuyn. As they were real politicians, the coalition fell apart after 11 hours. A coalition of left winged factions had to bring some rest. Also the first chairman didn’t hold out very long. She got a motion of distrust. The first mayor-elections took place a week after parliament voting. This function was paid with 100 ISH per week and the only goal was to be a point of mutual interest. The interest was minor and El Peso didn’t even had a representative. This caused some great annoyance amongst the citizens of El Peso.
24 April was another great step towards the improvement of justice in Cyberia. After an important judge was fired, the government decided to thoroughly work on the jurisdiction. They thought about a jury of three which then had to judge the innocence or guilt of accused citizens.
It is because of this first parliament that we now can use the following facilities: tradename database, a reconstruction of the bank, the adjustments of the justicial institute and contracts. These first motivated members of the parliament díd reach something and definitely didn’t be lazy.
After some struggles ad new proposals, on 8 June a second parliament was chosen. Not less than 454 votes were counted. Our greatgreatgrandfathers and mothers cannot possibly be accused of ‘to little political interest’.
Also the new mayor elections, which for the first time in history fell together with the parliament elections, went smoothly. According to our sources did the mayors do a great job. It couldn’t possibly be bad if you knew the amounts of ISHes the mayors could spend. We heard that the mayor of Eurodam put 300.000 ISH in reserve for tourists. Of course you shouldn’t forget that there were a lot of citizens.
A visit
On 23 June the transparency in the politics was on its top. Before that date it was for the normal citizens not possible to know what happened in the parliament of 20 members. Meetings were always behind closed doors. But on this very day the parliament opened their doors wide open and allowed all citizens to take a look in the prestigious building with her marble floors and pillars, her round dome and her leather seats. Many citizens took place on the seat of their favourite politician. But everyone was pointed out that they weren’t allowed to speak. This so they didn’t disturb the serenity of the place. In the adjacent room the cabinet took place. All citizens were quiet.
During the next trading periods some new things were added, which are still here nowadays. Back then they decided to hold the elections in the last week. This should tribute to a more stable government which could really do something and have its own policy. Apart from that there was a proposal for the renewal of the chairman of the parliament. According to all politicians this person could better be a president to make sure he stands above the factions.
Don’t say you were not warned
Politics, it stays difficult and strange. One day you are loved and the next day they throw a mation in your direction. Fortunately you can count on the support of your faction. It is also because of them and the coalitionpartners that new proposals found their way into the parliament. These lawproposals meant a true revolution in the parliament and led to an increasing democracy in Cyberia. The most proposals still are noticable today. It is clear: despite the relatively unstable governments they succeeded to form Cyberia to what it is now. A free democratic country where you can live happily.
