Meet the politicians (2)

Author: marcelbuter

For part two of the series that tries to get to know the person behind the politician we stopped by the Royal Palace in Digitalia for an interview with King Washaway I. After an extensive security check we sat down in one of the sitting rooms.

Marcelbuter: You weren’t born in Digitalia, something which most of the time people look upon like you are not a real Digitalian. How did you become a “real Digitalian” after all?

Washaway: I had lived in Digitalia before, but at that time I was seen more as a semi-Digitalian. Tripolire needed traders at that time and Leonardo Savatoro asked me to come over there to do wood and iron. Because of this I could accumulate a nice sum of money and that leads to making friends of course.

That round it became evident that Sandertje19 would renounce his throne at the end of the trading period. Together with Azelunit we decided to not wait for that to happen. We shot him 60 times in the middle of the night, and the day afterwards I was crowned King. It wasn’t even 3 days later when me and a few other Digitalians decided to change the current way of government and give the King more power. This turned out quite well for me, which boosted my confidence.

Marcelbuter: You indeed got more power in an impressive way last trading period. What do you think the effect will be of this extra power and to what extent was this change necessary?

Washaway: I didn’t start really looking at the law book until I got appointed as King, but I quickly found that it was more a position in name and not in function, which I thought should be changed. Together with Sugarfree I worked on the idea some more. I don’t know what the people following me up will do with the power, but I am glad I stood at the beginning of the change, something I will gladly leave to the next King.

Marcelbuter: Kings usually never answer this question, but how long are you planning to stay on as King?

Washaway: In Digitalia I had already announced that I am transferring the crown at the end of this round, probably to Antonio Savatoro, although I still can’t say this with 100 percent certainty. I think that a King shouldn’t stay for too long. Passing the crown on after 2 to 4 round keeps it interesting, what has a positive effect most of the time.

Marcelbuter: Why do you see Antonio Savatoro as the perfect successor?

Washaway: Antonio Savatoro is a valued Digitalian who has shown me that he has good ideas, and he is one of the only people who has told me that he would be interested in becoming King after me.

Marcelbuter: What will the rest of your career in Miniconomy look like?

Washaway: Get SCoI status before the 56th trading period, besides that I wouldn’t know.

After this question we heard a bomb go off and some gunshots. The King’s security mentioned that it might be smart for us to leave before all hell broke out. We left and are now on the boat to Virtua where part 3 will be written next week.
