Tranqer and his contested article: The True Story

Due to its content, this article is published in English.

Author: Tranqer

One week after the tumult in the International Court, I’d like to come out and explain my part of the story.

In the beginning, I want to emphasize that I feel both Digitalian and Virtuan.

Digitalia suffering from instability

The mess that the Alvarez family left behind in Digitalia made me come back to my hometown, El Peso. Digitalia was unstable for 3 rounds with an Alvarez as king; this round it had to be different. To give you an idea of what that means, I remind you of the Virtuan reaction to the election of Krelcya Alvarez, who almost became consul. What would Virtua be if the Federals had not intercepted this election? Well, imagine the same situation in Digitalia. I hope you understand the reason why they had to be stopped.

At the end of last round, something else happened which caused more racket one round later than I ever could imagine. To help you understand, I need you to look back to last round. After the monster fine Alvarez and co received, MoonPoker reached to get the Digitalian crown. Although Alvarez and co had recaptured the crown, I will always remember MoonPoker’s effort. He created an atmosphere in Digitalia that things were possible to change.

Conversation with Tranqer, Refund and MoonPoker

These beliefs were suddenly interrupted after a conversation with Refund. Apparently Refund sponsored MoonPoker with a substantial amount of I-Shell, to make it possible to become the king. Of course, that’s not a problem at all. But in a later conversation I asked why he sponsored MoonPoker, he explained he was student and knew how to use VPN. That was how he could easily play on both accounts without knowledge of the feds. I asked MoonPoker for any confirmation, and received the answer I feared.

That evening the world around me collapsed. Why can’t Digitalia have a stable political system? Why did the alter-ego’s get their pleasure to arouse the real Digitalians? Did Miniconomy became that boring that it was needed to come and play in Digitalia? And if so, why did the real Digitalians have to suffer all this? Would this ever end? As a nation we chose not to fight against these alter-ego’s for 2 rounds, and hoped to create a boredom which would get them away as fast as they came. But the opposite happened. Digitalia became a bigger playground for alter egos and the Digitalian people were repressed by those alter egos.

Creation of the contested article

To denounce the problems in Digitalia, the day after Refund’s and MoonPoker’s revelation, I wrote the contested article “Ziek van het gesjoemel bij alter-ego’s in Digitalië” (translated: Sick of the dirty tricks by alter-ego’s in Digitalia). In this article I addressed the actual problems in Digitalia. I knew a majority of Virtuans were against the instability in Digitalia, and that the majority of Ibishans liked to fund Alvarez. Cyberia rested neutral in the whole situation. With this article, I hoped to reach some Cyberians, and to promulgate our problems to their public.

Since I frequently write articles for The Miniconomist, I must admit that I made one fault: I wasn’t critical enough and appeared to be blinded by my personal involvements in the Digitalian case. Even bonanza, the main editor of The Miniconomist, predicted what could happen. But in the first hours after publication, I stayed convinced of my case, as Refund and MoonPoker had both confirmed their part. Despite my initial beliefs, some reactions of fellow-players did make me think about it more and I began to hesitate. Maybe my evidence wasn’t fully trust-worthy. Could there have been a miscommunication? Or, was Refund possibly just joking by mentioning the alter-ego story?

Agreement with bonanza, Refund and Tranqer at roundstart

Between the rounds I had time to think about what happened and what my article has given rise to. I was determined to write a new article for The Miniconomist. In this article I would bring attention to the implications that were made and apologize towards Refund and MoonPoker for misusing their names in the article.

I proposed this offer to both bonanza and Refund. Refund wanted to be sure of those apologies and bonanza fancied the idea as well and would publish the article in the first edition of the trade period. All the parties have been informed of the next step and gave their agreement. (red. We must add that a contract hasn’t been imposed)

Refund goes to the The International Court

Out of nowhere, and lacking the agreement, Refund started two cases at the International Court. The first one was accusing The Miniconomist (and indirectly bonanza), in the second one he accused me for writing the article. Personally I didn’t see that one coming. I must admit that we did not have a contract, so Refund was free to do whatever he pleased. But I was convinced that the agreement between the three parties offered the best solution for each one of us.

Anyway, I had hard times in Belgium due to exams at University. It was already hard to combine that with the trade activities in El Peso. On top of that, Refund caused me valuable time I couldn’t afford to lose with this case at IC. After I got permission to get more time by the court’s spokesperson, Refund stated he didn’t have the time. He came up with the compromise we made at roundstart.

In my opinion, he misused the International Court with his power and influence to set himself above the agreement. I must admit, as we hadn’t signed a contract, Refund had the right to do what he wanted. Because the case was brought to court, I couldn’t accept the compromise anymore. He put his fate in the hands of the judges.

I would like to end with a quote: “Wat gebeurd is, laat zich niet meer ongedaan maken.” (What is done cannot be undone.) – Desideirus Erasmus (Dutch humanist and philosopher 1469-1536)
