Finally it was time, the boat with the mayors of Virtua departed to the shores. Sitting in the lounge, awaiting the arrival, I got an SMS on my telephone. The sender was the TMC Editorship, my old employer. Because of the 50 year existence of the Federation they asked me if I would have the time to write something about the 36 trading periods I had lived through. I felt highly honoured.
Now All I needed to do was think about what I was going to write. A lot has happened in those 36 periods. New countries, new governments and a lot of changes of the citizens.
I still remember how it all started. I saw a beautiful advertisement about building up a new life. I was in for some adventure, so in the 14th trading period I reported myself at the quay near the boats which would take me to Cyberia. I had no idea what I would find there!
As every starting trader, I failed horribly. Fortunately I learned the other aspects of the community and I earned some political successes and finally my advanced status. A lot I have accomplished already. Of all the things I can do myself, only COI is on the list. The rest of the things I would like to do are not in my hands.
But this isn’t all about me, but about how I saw the Federation. It were nice and exciting times with thriving politics, ruthless trade and good trade. Of course I also went through the bad times but fortunately the Tri-State survived it all, thanks to the solid players.
The inhabitants of Cyberia, Digitalia and Virtua all have it in their own hands how things will develop. So hereby I want to cal out to my fellow-citizens. Try to live, try to undertake things. Don’t be afraid of rejection from higher powers and make the Federation your own playing garden.
If you all do this, it will become even more fun!
