A restriction of freedom or taking safety measures against cheating?
That is the question which occupied the CBI last week. Basick BV had, as broker, bought dozens of lots in Eurodam on the mainstreet: Coolsingel. He built them and put them for sale. In this way he makes use of people who want to have a shop on the main road and who pay a lot to get those shops. A smart strategy which soon developed to a serious discussion. They said that he took away the opportunity from small new players to buy a lot on the main street. After this the story is getting a bit vague, because different stories rise. Basick BV said this happened:
He bought the lots and got a warning from the CBI. He denied the warning and got another warning. As reaction, Basick BV sent a mail with the plans he had with his lots, that he would sell them and not keeping them. He got no reaction and was declared bankrupt by the CBI.
Because the CBI didn’t respond on Basick BV his mail and declared him bankrupt, this seems to be a harsh and unfair decision. That’s why I asked for some information. I got almost the same story as Basick BV told me, with only one little crucial difference. It seemed that, according to the higher source, Basick BV first got a warning. Then he mailed back and got another warning that it wasn’t good enough. This is how you get two different stories which lead to two different conclusions in my opinion.
If Basick BV told the truth, it is unfair that the CBI declared him bankrupt, because he assumed that his mail would clarify things.
But if the higher source speaks the truth, the bankruptcy of Basick BV would be legal, because he shouldn’t have neglected and ignored the warning and should’ve listened to the CBI, even if the orders aren’t correct..
Which brings us to the second question, can we or are we allowed to buy dozens of lots on the main road to make a profit? This question also caused a lot of discussion, because a broker uses this method to earn some money. On the other hand it is quite irritating for players who can’t afford that shop. A thing that is clear, is that these kind of things need to be more clarified by the government or the CBI. They need to install clear lines so everyone knows what he can or can’t.
